narrating

Question Posted Thursday June 21 2007, 2:02 am

16/f

Sometimes I narrate what I'm doing in my head. For example, when I got an instant message the other night, while trying to sleep, in my head I was saying "All of the sudden she hears an IM pulling her from her distant slumber and curiously gets out of bed to walk over to her computer to find out who that mysterious being is and why they beckon her at such an odd hour. As she is sluggishly making her way to the blinking box, she is almost tripped by a cold, black rod and thinks to herself 'Strange, I don't remember putting that there.' and continues on her journey...etc."

I do it ALL the time, not just at night. Is this normal, do I have an over-active imagination, or should I seek medical attention?

There's nothing weird about that. I do it constantly. Personally, I find myself to be quite weird because I have other odd tendencies...

But don't worry you don't need to seek medical attention. Other people do it too.

i do that, too.
and like the person below me,
maybe it's because I write a lot of stories, poems, etc.

I think it's fine
as long as it isn't affecting your life in any harmful way :]

edit:
I'm so sorry!
I edited the wrong answer.
some person went off on me and it was the question below yours on my edit answer page.
sorry again!

i do it too but i think it's because i write stories a lot. for example i was sitting at my table eating cereal and there was a thunderstorm, so i narrarated the whole thing and described the rain, and then i just write it down because it would sound good in a story. so try writing it down and then try writing a story or something.

i dont think alot of people do that, but its defaintly not a big deal or anything. just a little something that you do.
you sound like youd be an excellant writter, to put your narrations to good use and write them down sometimes, you could probably make a great book.

I've done it. Do it all the time. Sometimes I do it out loud and don't even realize it. It's not weird, it's just a quirk.

You have an imagination, put it to good use.

dude i do this too. i've been known to stand there at like a store or something and narrate the whole trip to the store and list of groceries to myself. and when narration gets intense i even begin to speak it as i walk or whatever. i don't think it's wrong or bad, just well weird. but eh everyone has their little qualms.
