Ok well its summer and all and i want to try to do a airbrush tan and the one where someone does it for you. it takes me a while to get tan and when i do it goes away after like a week....okay so i was wondering does it really work? or does it turn you orange?

I finally decided to try spray tan when I knew a few people who went to my tanning salon & actually looked really good from it. There are things about it that aren't great & there are things about it that are wonderful. I believe the paler you are, the more orange your results will be. I am naturally pale & when I went, it did look a little orangish, but ONLY for the first day. The thing is, if you don't want orangish blotches/streaks you have to: shower/exfoliate beforehand, don't wear any makeup & apply lotion afterwords to even it out. Yes, it really is a hassle the first day, so don't go on a day you plan to go anywhere or wear nice clothes. My clothes got gross (I expected it & I was prepared), I had to be careful with what came in contact with my skin because anything that rubbed against it would cause a streak or some type of uneveness on my skin. Technically, it wasn't completely set in/dry until about 5 hours later. I had to apply lotion to continue evening it out about 2-3 times before the day was over. The next morning, the orangish went away after my shower & it looked completely fine! It actually doesn't look bad AT ALL if you know what to do & do it right. It only cost me $15 for one session when I went. Expect to pay anywhere from there to $30 a session & go 2-4 times a month to maintain it. I don't know how much more it is to someone personally do it for you. The upside of it is - you don't need to worry about skin cancer. I am someone who has definitely had too many years in a tanning bed & will never get in one again. So the spray tan/airbrushing is definitely a better alternative, even if I have to do a few things to get the results I want. [ LadyH's advice column | Ask LadyH A Question ]
holahayley56 answered Saturday June 16 2007, 11:23 pm: it turns you orange. i've never see anyone, not look orange from those. have you ever seen that sunset tan? or something like that, on E.. yeah, well it cost like 1000 dollars, for them to do it there, and the girl came out looking so orange. and i mean, it will probably cost alot cheaper, if you dont live in california, but if they charge that much, and the person still comes out orange, its probably not going to look good. but, what i strongly suggest, is sephora, i can't remember if its a spray on tan, or a lotion. and you do it yourself, BUT, if you don't like it, they have a remover. thats why i really like it. because since everyone has different tastes, and different opinions, if it doesnt come out exactly how you were hoping it too, atleast you can remove it and not be stuck with it. sephora, was on the news [thats how i first saw it] because they were saying how great of a product it is, and ive also seen it reccommend in many magazines. like seventeen, and such. also, what i use, and i personally think turns out great, and not orange at all, is jergens. i love ittt. im very particular about my tan, and it always looks very natural. and not like someone just put me in a fire, and i came out all burned looking. i'm not sure if that has a remover, but its still awesome. you can find sephora in sephora stores, or probably drugstores too. jergens, is at drugstores also.
Shortcake22 answered Saturday June 16 2007, 9:11 pm: I think that spray tans almost always look bad. Even when you get them done professionally. They make you look orange, or at the very best, they make you look dirty in some spots if it's not completely even (which is a problem even when someone does it for you). I would stay away from an airbrush tan, but if you know someone who gets it done, and theirs looks good, then go for it. But don't just randomly go to some salon where you've never seen their work, because that could turn out bad. The cost depends on where you go. Around here, they're about 30 bucks, give or take a few.

But, my boyfriend used to get them alot (he's Irish so he burns and can't tan) and they always looked good. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
