Bladder??

Question Posted Wednesday June 13 2007, 8:51 pm

Sometimes I have to hold my urine until I can go. During school, I never go during passing period only if the next class is close by. Otherwise, I go to the next class. Sometimes I have to go but I wait until I have lunch time. Once in a while I wait about 3 hours until I go use the restroom. Is this bad for my bladder? My counsin said it isn't good for me by holding it for that long.

-Confused

You should go when you feel you need to go and not hold it. Holding it for long periods of time leads to bladder infections that may be severe enough for you to need hospitalization. As years go by of doing this behavior your body will train itself and you will never know when you need to go. Eventually, you will release small amounts of urine into your underwear without meaning to.
I know you probably don't want to take my advice. But, I was a not so bright child- I was afraid of blue water in public bathrooms, so I would go all day without going to the restroom. I've been paying for my childhood fear (or stupidity) ever since.

No, it's definitely not good for your bladdar. If you continue, you will come to a point where you'll suddenly feel the urge to go & won't always be able to hold it in. Or even worse, you can end up with a bladdar infection. The only thing I can say is to go to the restroom when you need to go. I don't think your teachers or anyone can refuse you from going. If it becomes excessive during a class & your teacher has a problem with it, try drinking less liquids or have a talk with your teacher about your medical situation.

Dear confused,
Holding in your bladder may cause a bad infection. And you can spend a couple of weeks in the hospital. Try to go every so often and just go when you have free time. If your teachers do not understand why your late, that is their problem. Best of luck!

It's not good for you. When you have to pee, just go to the bathroom. Who cares if you're late? Just go before you give yourself some serious problems. And if a teacher doesn't let you go, tell them you're gonna piss on the floor.

No, it's not good. I'm not sure exactly what it does to you, but its nothing drastic so if you do it once in a while it will be okay. Try to pee more frequently though. :)
