Some of my friends are going to Six Flags and invited me. I really want to go, but I`m scared of heights + i hate it when rides go upside down like that. I scream for them to stop the right and I almost cry. Haha, it sounds pathetic, but when I was little I was up in some tree really high and this girl was trying to give me a boost, so i fell and broke my jaw. Yeah, anyways, is there some way that I can overcome my fear of this stuff so I can go?

Try a small roller coaster, then a bigger one and work your way up. i kinda just was like oh what the heck ... they wont let you go on it if you're going to get hurt. and when i went on superman, i was extremely nervous because the first drop was soo high, but the seatbelts were incrdible, you couldnt move. just say to yourself, why not? and you might even like some of them. hope i helped (: [ SoccerCutiex3's advice column | Ask SoccerCutiex3 A Question ]

The only way to overcome your fear is to face it.
Listen, talking amusement parks, here, when I was a kid, I used to be scared to death of big rides like roller coasters because they were so high from the ground.
One time, I decided to face my fear and get on a roller coaster. Let me tell you, the "chicken exit" looked nicer and nicer each time it got closer to being my turn, but I refused to take it. I was bound and determined to see what this whole roller coaster hubbub was about.
The ride was scary at first, but I was determined to do my best and enjoy myself, so I loosened up and the ride became exciting and thrilling. I wanted to go over and over again, because it really wasn't as bad as I thought.
I absolutely LOVE roller coasters to this day.
The thing of it is, is that the rides are meant to be scary. They are thrill rides. You get on them and get flung about or hurtled through the air way above the ground in order to scare the crap out of yourself for the sheer fun of it.
All you can really do is to ride a thrill ride and try to enjoy it. If you can't enjoy it, then avoid them. There is no since in scaring yourself half to death and not having a good time about it. That just makes for an awful day at Six Flags, where you should be enjoying yourself.
I'm sure they have many rides to choose from that don't send you into the air that are equally as fun, and I hope your fear of heights don't keep you from going and having a good time. :)

I think you should go even if you are still afraid of heights becuase there are other rides that you might not be scared of and you will still have a lot of fun just being with your friends. If you begin to see it as a positive experience, then the fear will diminish. Don't you want to put this fear behind you once and for all? Don't you want to go out with your friends and have fun? This is your big chance to accomplish both. This is an exciting opportunity to go back and face (and possibly) overcome your fears. When you view the situation from a positive perspective like that, it seems less scary and more exciting.
Blue503 answered Monday June 11 2007, 3:37 pm: The best way to overcome it would to be to just go and get on one. Find the smallest roller coaster that doesn't have any upside down parts and try that one. If you get on a small roller coaster and like it, the others should come a lot easier to you... It worked for one of my friends. We went to Busch Gardens for our senior trip and she was terrified to coasters but we finally got her on one and she loved it and rode all the other ones. There is no guarantee that you will get on the roller coaster and like it, but that's probably the best way to overcome it. [ Blue503's advice column | Ask Blue503 A Question ]
