Question Posted Friday June 8 2007, 3:04 am

so, how do you get rid of a decent sized keloid on the back of your cartilage?

...without seeing a doctor? [expensive!]

will 'time heal all'?

Usually you get a keloid scar due to some type of trauma to a certain area. The keloid arises usually directly on or near the trauma. I suspect that since the keloid is on your back cartilidge, you maybe got that area recently pierced. If such is the case, you have to take the piercing out. That is the only way the keloid will stop growing and reduce its size and appearance. After you take out the piercing the keloid will go down substantially, but if you don't, it will continue to be there. :)

Has this actually been diagnosed as a keloid? And what do you mean by the back of your cartilage? Your cartilage where? There is cartilage in many locations in your body.
If it is a keloid, all my research tells me that they can only be removed by a physician. Keloids are scars that continue to grow and enlarge and surpass the wound area where you would expect a scar to be. Know one know who or why some people are prone to develop keloids where usually a regular scar would grow, then stop growing, of course. Dark skinned people are more prone to keloids. And people who are prone to keloids should never get piercings, because they cause keloids.
I hope this helps

Compression, apply a bandage or tape to apply continuous pressure 24 hours a day for 6 to 12 months. Pressure will reduce the size by at least 50%. Or you can use moist burn wound treatments with silicone gel sheets, Biodermis is a really good one. If you want to know more about it here's the link. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
