Tampons feel odd when you first start wearing them, but you get use to them & fast. Start with a small size (such as a teen regualar) and the more comfortable you are with the tampons the more you can change around sizes and brands. When you put them in the main thing is to stay relaxed. Make sure to read all the instructions. Twice if you need to. & as far as TSS goes, its rare, and it happens when you leave your tampon in for like 20 hours. (not really but its a long peroid of time). Don't worry about that, just be sure to change your tampon every 3-4 like you're sopose to. Hope this helped, and don't worry tampons are nothing to be scared of.

First, tampons will feel wierd for you the first couple of times. It won't be long before you get used to them. So I would go ahead & start using them especially at your age and considering how active you are.

Second, you don't need to worry about TSS. That is only caused by lack of changing your tampon. Tampons usually need to be changed every couple of hours. Other than that, you're good, you'll be fine I promise :)

I had this same situation at almost the same exact age. It's kindof akward if you've never used one before (unless you're sexualy active) becasue you're not used to anything being 'shoved' up there. But, after you get it in place, you can't even feel it. There will be directions on the tampon box on how to put it in, or you could always ask a female relative that's close to you. (Mom, Aunt, Grandma, etc.) & as for TSS, you only get this if you leave it in too long. You should change it about every 4-5 hours if you're scared of getting this. But then again, the tampon box will tell you all about TSS as well. Hope I've helped. :)

I was so nervous when I first tried out a tampon. It's actually REALLY easy after you figure out wtf you're doing. All you have to do is RELAX! It helps if you feel around and know where you're actually about to put it if you're not quite comfortable yet. I know it sounds kind of gross, but that's why you wash your hands. I hold the applicator with my thumb and my middle finger, and put my index finger at the end of the tampon. Put it up into your vagina until it's pretty far in, and that push the applicator. You have to angle the tampon when you put it in so that it's not straight in, but the angle in more towards the ground. (Sorry this is really hard to explain in type)

In that picture, you can see how the vagina is at an angle. You want to try to angle the tampon that way.
If you're doing it right, you should even be able to barely feel a thing.

There's a diagram with a tampon it. (it's a cartoon, don't worry, aha)

If you're worried about getting TTS, don't worry. It's a really rare disease, and if you're careful then you should be fine. Never sleep with your tampon in to avoid wearing the tampon for too long. Change your tampon atleast every 4-6 hrs, to avoid the buildup of bacteria which causes TSS. Use the most absorbancy as you need. If your flow is light/regular, then use a REGULAR tampon, not a super tampon.

hey

TSS is really really rare. & if you're really super careful, you never have to worry about it.

okay, girl, you need to try tampons. like no joke. yes, i will admit, when i first tried it it hurt cause i broke my hymen, which is jsut like a layer of mucus inside your 'hole'. but after that, it's SO comfortable, you can't even feel them! it's like you don't even have your period cause tampons aren't smelly & are really convinient.

look, just remember this: when i first tried one, i was scared i was putting it in too far, and when i walked i could feel it inside me. well, you're supposed to put it in as far as it can go. when your period is really heavy one day, just try one! it slides in really easily when your period is heavy.

Believe me, I was more then scared my first time.
Its honestly not that bad, infact they're so much better then pads so I highly recommend them.

Now, go into a bathroom and take a couple tampons with you for your first time. I recommend Tampax Pearls because the plastic applicator makes it so much easier to enter for the first time. There will be instructions in the box, reading those really helped me out.

Put the tampon in the necessary hole angled back towards your butt at about a 45 degree angle. Slowly push the applicator in. When you feel the whole tampon and applicator is in far enough, push the actual tampon (which will be the long, skinny part in) This may be where it will hurt the first few times since your vagina will not be used to it. Then pull the applicator out and wa-la, you're done!

Only leave the tampon in for a maximum 8 hours, I usually do about 5. If you sleep in it, put a new one in right before bed, and right when you wake up.

Good Luck <3

The first time, it will feel really weird, unless I guess if you've had sex a lot, which most girls haven't before the first time they wear a tampon.
When I first tried, I couldn't figure it out either, but take a bath, and once you're clean, feel around *down there* for a hole. Once you've found it, there are a couple of ways to put them in. Personally, I prefer sitting, but I know some girls who stand up to do it. Spread your legs, and push gently in, towards your spine.
TSS occurs if it stays in too long. However, this is not something you should truly truly stress about. A friend of mine accidentally forgot that one was in, and the string had broken, and it was in for about 3 weeks before she realized it and took it out. If she didn't get TSS, I don't think you will from a few hours. To be safe, change them about every 8 hours, and more often if your flow is really heavy.

dont be scared! its part of becoming a woman.
and it doesnt hurt, unless you place it wrong.
looking in a mirror is the best when your a just beginning. AND let me tellyou tampons are better than nasty DIAPers.

when you look in the mirror, their will be a sinifigant hole that is larger. TAHT is the hole. and no thats now where you pee so dont worry!
id get a pearl tampon because they have easy aplicators.now youdont stick straight back your actually in an angle so go up at an angle. Go slow. no rush.
it wont hurt promise. and once you go past the end of tampon.you just push the aplicaton and pull out. now if it feels tight, its because you didnt get it far enough up so if you just use your finger and push just a little more it will feel better!! sounds bad but really its not.

easy as that. and then just use a pantyliner. and wa la. oh dont leave your tampon in more than 8hrs. probably change it 3x's a day.
because it could get unsanitary!! and its okay to sleep in a tampon.
and the best thing about tampons is you can swim in them. and not worry, just rememver when you finish swimming change your tampon because its oging to soak alot of the water.

REMEMBER not to flush tampons!!!roll in toiletpaper and throw awya.

and when you get ready to take out the tampon pull on the string and relax. if your tense it feels akward coming out. you can use small tampons till you get use to it. but you may need larger tampons for your Men. cycle.

so welcome to woman hood!!
