For the first 3 day's i went for 6 minutes.
And after that i kept going up on the minutes.
During the 3-4 weeks i went tanning , i only used a stand up bed , and i went 12 minutes everyday. So my question is ; am i at risk for skin cancer ?
Rosalina answered Tuesday June 5 2007, 5:43 pm: yes. skin cancer risk is WORSE when you use tanning beds, because the rays burn your skin closer. Tans are your body's way of telling you that your skin is injured, and the worst way is tanning beds. However, skin cancer takes about 20 years to develop, so you won't see the results for 20 years. Get checked out by a dermatologist, and pray that if you do, you only get basil cells...[my grandad died from melanoma. :(]

Just watch your skin for any rashes or spots or anything out of the ordinary. If you find something, go to the dermatologist.
I'd say that indoor tanning is bad, which it is, but I did it for two months to get color before summer got here. I'm done with it now, but I know how bad for your skin it is.
Basically, if your skin has any color, sun damage has already began. It's best not to tan for a long period of time, because you'll end up looking 50 when you're 30. It's really bad for your skin and aging.
But I understand why people do indoor tanning...you don't have to lay out in the heat for two hours. It's quick, efficient, and you see results almost automatically.
Just be careful and don't overdo it.
OH! And the first person said indoor tanning can be better for you than the real thing, that is NEVER true. Artificial UV light bulbs are worse for you than the natural sun...always! [ lbwhite89's advice column | Ask lbwhite89 A Question ]

Honestly, the best thing to do is to be happy with your own skin, but if you really must have that glow, lol, I'd reccomend the oils and spray tans. Contrary to popular belief, there are some good ones out there.
