Roxeh101 answered Tuesday June 5 2007, 8:40 pm: It's just like going into sixth grade, the same basic idea. New school, new people, new teachers, new hallways. (For some of us at least) All you do is find friends/anyone who is in your class and find your way together. That's the BEST way to make friends. In some classes you'll almost be forced to make friends because no one in there seems familiar. Everything will come naturally, just go with flow and don't try to hard to make friends. adorentmusicale answered Tuesday June 5 2007, 7:13 pm: Well, I'm just finishing up my freshman year at high school and if the school that you're going to attend, everything bad that you have heard isn't true. People told me that it was going to be horrible being a freshman and that year was the hardest: trust me its not. I believe that it's just all myth like and people say that to scare you. Don't stress that much about it because people will tell if your worried about your first day and then they will think that they can walk all over you. High school is so much fun and it's nothing to be scared about I promise, except for tests! And, having your sister there will be a plus, not a negative. She can possibly drive you there and take you home every day instead of having to ride the bus and you know that she is always just a hallway away. Also, my school is huge, two floors and a text center right next to it. I never thought I would find my way around, but guess what? Third day, I was like a pro. Finally, making friends will come naturally like it did for me. Talk to new people and I'm sure it will be easy. Good luck next year! :) [ adorentmusicale's advice column | Ask adorentmusicale A Question ]
BeautifulGirlxo answered Tuesday June 5 2007, 5:15 pm: I'm going into freshman year soon too.
and i know, im scared, i know how you feel.
what i was told by highschoolers that
joining clubs will help you gain friends
and sports too.
Over the summer, with a few friends after you get your schedule, you should all go there and find all of your classes.
it will help you be less confused :]
also, if you need help, you can ask any on the monitors / guidance office where your classes are, they will have no problem with you being late for the first few days, they know that you are confused and you are not used to the school.
remember 6th grade? its just a take back to it.
you were scared you wouldnt have friends.
but i bet you made friends in your classes.
you were scared you would get lost.
you got help right?
sugarplum07 answered Tuesday June 5 2007, 3:35 pm: It really helps if you join some kind of club or sport. I know my freshman year I joined marching band and I made A LOT of friends. I knew half the people in the school before I even started just by joining marching band.
When you go for freshman orientation, feel free to wander around the school and find where your classes are. Once you have a look around it won't be so scary.
Just relax and have fun. You'll meet new people anyway just by talking to them in your classes. The more activites you get involved in, the more people you'll meet. [ sugarplum07's advice column | Ask sugarplum07 A Question ]
lbwhite89 answered Tuesday June 5 2007, 2:12 pm: I know I was really scared when I was a Freshman. I was so freaked out that all those movies where they show everyone picking on the freshman and just miserable kids were actually what it was like.
My freshman year ended up being my favorite year. In middle school I was a bit of a loser who was friends with people no one liked, so I wasn't liked. In high school I was in classes with some people I didn't know or barely knew and we formed a really close group of friends. It was great.
You just have to go in with a good, positive attitude and be yourself. It'll be fine, and when you're my age and about to be a senior it'll seem like so long ago.
perfectallycutec answered Tuesday June 5 2007, 2:11 pm: don't worry, high school is funn! to make friends, join groups and afterschool activites, or just find someone with the same intrests as you. this will get you talking to them, and making friends will be a breeze! you'll be fine, its just that high school is built up to be so much more than it actually is.
