Just tonight, I gave my Black Syrian a quick water bath (no soap) because he peed inside a little bitty carrying cage that I was using while I was cleaning his cage.

I wet him down REALLY good and paper towelled him off, and made sure that he was completely dry before sticking him back in his cage; and he's fine. The point of this story was (almost forgot) he didn't smell like urine anymore. He didn't smell all nice and freshly showered either, but I don't think putting shampoo and conditioner on him would be good for him.

Hamsters are natural groomers. What kind of smell is it? Make sure you keep his cage clean and please, please, please DON'T used Cedar or Pine bedding as it can lead to respiratory problems in hamsters.

Good luck and welcome to hamster ownership...ENJOY HER

cleaning the cage more often with anti bacterial soap helps.

hey

aww that's soo cute :]

for my hamsties, i bought like baby wipes? the vet. said it's fine as long as you don't get it in her eyes, and put a paper towel or towel over her so she's not wet from the baby wipe.

i kinda don't suggest spritzing perfume on the cage WHILE she's in the cage. some animals can be allergic to the perfume and sneeze for a long time afterward. and be sure not to get it near her face at all.

or, you can take a HOT damp towel (i'm saying hot cause by the time you walk to her, the towel will cool down) and just run it along her back. don't rub in the opposite direction of hair growth. or you'll have wet clumps of hair in your towel.

Just spray 2-3 squirts of your favorite perfume around the cage. Take the hampster out though. And only 2-3 squirts because that could hurt the hampster if you put anymore.

you should go to a pet store and get training classes from or a vet office and they'll teach u how he can smell better

overall take care of ur hamster don;t use things and let him eat things that humans eat and use you can make him very very very sick.
