Yo.
Before you babysit for someone, I would take a babysitting course; you learn what to do in an emergency, CPR, etc. You might get a certificate for participating, so you could show that to the parents to proove that you have learned what to do. For being shy, you could have your parents throw in your name or amke flyers to put up around town.
Hope I helped!!!

Well, before you start looking for jobs, you should probably take a babysitting class.
In most babysitting classes, they will teach you basic knowledge about babysitting babies through the age of 11ish.
In most classes, you will also get certified for CPR.
Then when you start looking for jobs, parents would probably feel more assured if they know that you took a class and know CPR.

And as for being shy, you could have your parents ask the other parents :]

I hope this helped! :]

Maybe you should ask your parents to ask their parents.

I have a 10 year old brother, and I also wanted to babysit for his friends. But since I felt weird just going up to the parents and saying "By the way, I babysit, just thought you should know..", I got my mom to talk to their parents and casually slip it in. Now I babysit for one of his friends once every other week.

As for getting information, it's really not as hard as it sounds; once you get a job, the kids will usually have something planned for you to do with them, or if not, suggest a board game, puppet show, etc.

Good luck :)

If you go to the bookstore or library, you'll find tons of books about babysitting. Also, many YMCAs and city park districts have babysitting classes where you also learn CPR and other helpful stuff. As for getting started... if you're too shy to approach the parents yourself, ask your parents to mention to the other parents that you're available for babysitting. You could also make a flyer to pass out at games and in your neighborhood. Good luck!
