Some of our most special times together were going for walks at the forest preserve, and I always planned that I would have him cremated and scatter his ashes at the park, so he would always be "there" in the place he loved most. Well, when he actually died (I had to have him put to sleep cuz he was really sick - hardest thing I've ever done), I was too much a mess to think straight, and the vet said he would just "take care of things", which meant disposing of the body in some way I don't even know. I regret that a little bit, but on the other hand... I know that no matter what has happened to his body, his spirit is always with me. Anyway, ask your vet what the different options are and decide what you feel most comfortable with. But whatever you choose, just remember that your dog's love will never die and he will be with you forever. [ Jeanne's advice column | Ask Jeanne A Question ]

I just buried them in my backyard.
We put angel and rabbit statues around it,
and planted flowers.
Yes, you could stuff your dog I guess,
if you took it to a professional.
You might be able to find a taxodermist in your area.
(fancy word for person that stuffes animals.)
Or if you can't, ask a vet.
It might be a bit weird, and depressing
if you had your dog stuffed though.
So you might change your mind about it.
Personally, I would find it
very sad to have to look at my dead pet everyday,
but I guess it's up to you.
