Question Posted Saturday May 26 2007, 5:18 pm
i just got my belly piecred and im in cheerleading. for competitions we can't have them in of course and i might need to take it out other times too. when is it okay to switch it with another one and to take it out? if and when i do take it out it won't be for very long
hollister_lover09 answered Sunday May 27 2007, 12:21 pm: i totally agree with the person below me. but i had this same problem. i have mine done twice top and bottom, and i got the bottom done around the end of may. i chaned the ring on like june 4th. it was fine, then i had a basketball game june 5-6-7-8 and i only took it out on the 8th, and it was fine, everytime i was out i would put it in and before i went bakcin a took it back out. this did fine, but from doing that, it got infected, from playing with it to much. so if your competion is coming up soon, do what i did if you have too, take it out before you go on, and right after put it back in. if it gets infected dont use rubbing alcohle, it will eat the skin. hope i helped<3 [ hollister_lover09's advice column | Ask hollister_lover09 A Question ]

That means, you can't take the ring out for at least 4 months, or else the hole will close up, or get seriously infected. Holes on your body can close up very, very fast. Even after they are healed, they can still close up quickly. I have my nose pierced, and that can literally close up in half a day. Or worse, your piercing could get infected. And a belly button infection is about the worst kind you can get.
Like the person below me said, you can try to cover it up with a bandage. Or, you could try and get a clear, belly button ring. They're called retainers. You could go back to the place where you got it done, and ask them if they have any belly button retainers, which is basically just a clear belly button ring, that is less noticeable. Some people may not even know that you're wearing it. Ask the person there if it'd be alright to put it in. [ twistedsister17's advice column | Ask twistedsister17 A Question ]
