I'm going camping at a music festival for 3 days, and well, I have a pretty irregular period and it sort of just happens by surprise and Im so worried that it'll occur during my time at the festival.
I feel the situation is unhygeinic(sp?) as it is without having my time of the month, the only toilets will be portaloo's (chemical toilets) and they are disgusting, you have to wait ages in a queue for it aswell.
I just want to enjoy my weekend as much as posible without this ruining it.
Im currently no on the pill at the moment.
Is there any medicine/treatments you can buy or be prescribed that will posepone my period??
A pharmacutical company has come up with pills to stop cycles, but the FDA hasn't approved it. And I'll tell you, if and when they do, it will not be safe. It'll be just like that disaster for the birth control pill that stops your period, except for four times a year. It was on the market less than a year-- and they pulled it.
Anytime medical science makes pills to stop mother nature-- is unhealthy, risky, and unsafe.
You have a monthly cycle for a reason-- to wash and flush an unfertilized egg and hormones from your uterus. The cycle cleans you until next ovulation.
Now think about it-- Does it sound reasonable or healthy to stop that process? And if you do what happens?
You get a bunch of unfertilized rotting eggs and hormone build up on the lining of your uterus. And that is called "endometriosis" in which sooner or later you have to go into the hospital and have a procedure done called a "DNC" which the physician scrapes the hormone build up off the lining of the uterus and cleans you all up to start healthy and fresh.
Forget the notion of trying. It's a lost cause anyway.
Where a tampon and a panty liner if you want to be safe, and when it does start, if you do not feel comfortable in a porta-potty-- then get a girlfriend to look out for you while you change in the tent you sleep in. (or cabin, whatever...)
Be sure to take some little baggies, or sandwhich baggies to dispose the used tampons in, and discreetly throw it in a garbage can there or in the porta-potty toilet.
Use a carry-all bag/purse to haul it to the garbage can or porta-potty facility so no one will know what you're doing.
