Sorry I'm not sure how you spell it but either Hodgkinsons or Hodgkins disease. Can someone tell me what that is and what the symptoms are?
I have a sore lump in my armpit which has been there for 3 days now. I'm absolutely petrified of telling someone coz I don't want to go to the doctors.
You could read that for information on it, or just search for it on google.
However, going to the doctor would be your best bet. It might not be anything, but then again, it could. You're better safe then sorry. [ xWACKYJACKIEx's advice column | Ask xWACKYJACKIEx A Question ]

The most common symptoms of Hodgkin’s disease resemble flu. Lymph nodes get swollen, a person may suffer from fever, fatigue and night sweats and then a tumor forms. Other indicators could be unexplained weight loss, loss of appetite and itching. Lymph nodes usually swell in the neck, underarm, or groins. Diagnosis is made by performing a biopsy and searching for the presence of Reed-Sternberg cells that are specific for this kind of disease. Doctors may order additional blood tests, CT scans or MRI scans. The treatment and prognosis depend on the several factors like age, symptoms, stage of the disease, sex (males are more prone to the disease), and overall health condition. The treatment is indicated for destroying malignant cells and for bringing the disease into remission. A person would fall into the risk group for developing Hodgkin’s disease if they had a family history of the disease, if they were infected with Epstein-Barr virus like infectious mononucleosis, and if their immune systems were compromised.
As for the prognosis, it is said that Hodgkin’s disease is the most curable of blood cancers. Like with any other disease, the earlier discover, the better survival rate. [ tommys_baby's advice column | Ask tommys_baby A Question ]
Sabine answered Friday May 18 2007, 11:31 pm: Here's info on Hodgkin's Lymphoma:
Usually, lymph nodes in Hodgkin's start out swollen but not sore until the disease is advanced. More likely, you have a blockage of the lymph fluids, a pimple, or some other small problem that's causing the raised lymph node. It also could be a cyst in your armpit, which is benign, or it could be an infected sweat gland or hair follicle.
I think you should tell someone if you get a fever, if it remains there for more than 7 days, or if it starts to get bigger, sore, or red. The likelihood that this is lymphoma, Hodgkin's or non-Hodgkin's, is very small.
