It is a natural instinct for a dog to be protective of their owner. She is just keeping an eye on her. Animals can sense things humans can't maybe your dog senses something you dont.

Your dog is getting old and scared. The reason the dog runs in when a storm is coming is because it can sense weather ahead of time and feels the need to find a safe place to be.

The reason for following your mum (mom, sorry im aussie) may be because she spends more time with the dog? Or The dog might want to be around someone it feels safe with.

It could be sick, and you may not know., Dogs know when time's coming to an end and they feel the need for safety.

hope i helped a bit.

im not sure your dogs wierd haha

try walking it yourself insteed your mom
even if hes old try playing with him
everyday try to spoil him with your love

just try bonding with him mabie he feels like he needs to be with her to feel protected. or mabie hes trying to protect her?

try to make him understand he doesnt always need someone by his side

im not really good with dog advice but thats what i would do
theres really nothing rong with him he just has that habbit dont worry bout it too much

i know EXACTLY what you mean. we had this dog magic he was about 12 and he followed my mom evrywhere. it made me sad because i thot he didnt like me anymore, lol. ok well anyways maybe your dog looks at your mom like a Mother figure. it might think that your mom will take care of it when it gets too old to do anything. and if your mom used to feed the dog and wash it and basically take care of it before you were old enough or assumed the responsibility, it might think she is the one that will take care of it.

hope i helped a little =)
