Jamaica, Bahamas, Aruba

Question Posted Wednesday April 25 2007, 6:59 am

My church goes on 1 cruise a year with the parish. This year they went to Italy. Next year in the spring they are going to Jamaica, The Bahamas, Aruba, and St. Martin! My family has NEVER been on one of the cruises with the church, and we thought it might be a fun experience.

First off, how can I make my dad totally into the idea. I told him you get discounts when going with the church. Also, all of our close friends will be there. My mom doesn't do planes or cruises so she won't go and my dad probably doesn't want to be the only adult.. I was thinking maybe we could ask my neighbors if they would be interested in going.. What else could I say to get him to want to go because we don't travel a lot and we don't go anywhere far like this before?

That's just it. you need to tell him that it's a once in a lifetime experience and that it's best to travel when you're young, like yourself. If that doesn't work then ask one of your close relative, like an aunt or grandparent. You deserve this trip when you're young, plus you're more likely to remember this better if you take it when you're young. Point out your age, the discount again, maybe you'll pay for half of whats left of the cost, you set it all up and all he has to do is come. Have him take one of his friends so he won't be the only parent there. I'm sure there will be someone willing to take off sometime to take a cruise like that. Like you could take me or something. Just Kidding! =] Hopefully you're able to go and that you enjoy yourself!

Tell him that traveling abroad looks good on college applications. If you have money you could offer to pay for some of the expenses.

Hope I helped and good luck!
