Yesterday I got my top ear pierced and the piercer said to wash it, blah blah blah. But he said not to twist it because it's bad for the healing process. And people are telling me to twist it when I clean it to keep it clean.
I got the same spot on my other ear pierced last year, and when it was in it's healing process and I twisted it I nearly had to take it out because it got infected really badly. I thought it got pierced wrong but it could be from twisting
To twist or to not twist?

The only reason why is because your fingers have oils and germs on them that can infect the newly pierced hole. If you're going to twist it, put Bactine (the best thing to heal piercings fast) on it while doing it, and clean your hands beforehand. It should be fine. Plus, you dont want the crust to build up on the piercing, so it can be good to twist it.

LM answered Monday April 23 2007, 5:01 pm: Twist them once a day. I'm pretty sure they say "no twisting" as in, twirling you earrings for an hour taking a math test. Because your ahnds aren't clean & could easily transfer an infection. Plus, if you don't twist them at ALL, your earrings heal around your ear & you'll never get them out. ive always heard that you should, but if you went to a professional place with a good rep and the piercer told you not to, then just go with what he/she said. if you want clarification, call back up there and ask. [ bitterxsweet's advice column | Ask bitterxsweet A Question ]
