it depends on what type of vergeterian you would like to become. some don't eat animal meat and also nothing produced by animals (like eggs, milk, etc.). but some don't eat any meat but still do eat those things produced by animals. some don't eat any meat but fish, and others eat no meat at all. there really is a lot of types, so you need to figure out how serious you wanna take this. and you probably won't lose a lot of weight, because you really don't get any protein and your diet will change dramatically. if you're truley serious about it and have figured out the pros and cons, i suggest you take this slow and don't just jump into it, and stick to it. good luck.

This is not a choice to be taken lightly.

Get a good book on vegitarians. Check them out of the library-- read, read, read.

Your body is accustomed to meat. Eliminating meat all at once is a shock to your digestive tract.

This should be done gradually, decreasing meats, starting with red meats, limiting to poultry and fish, and adding more veggies.

You will have to gather cookbooks of vegetarian receipes just to have a variety of ways to prepare the same old veggies.

I personally do not recommend an all vegetarian diet, but rather a diet of eliminating meat two to three days a week.

Talk to a nutricinist, doctor, and read. You can become anemic also.

There are certain minerals and vitamins needed to suppliment your veggie diet. You are a carnivorous creature after all.

How old are you?
if your not 18 or older, i strongly don't recommend you become one.

if you are younger then 18, you are not going to grow properly. and you'll be unhealthy and blah blah blah..

If your older, it is very hard. because, well.. do you like cookies. (: ?

WELL. say goodbye to those.
cookies have eggs and them, and veggiterrians can't eat them. (:

Do you like pizza?
SORRY. i hope you only like cheese pizza.

Do you like fast food?
yanoo, chiptole, mcdonalds, wendys, and so on.
well, youll have a very limited choice of food if your a veggiterrian.

WHAT ABOUT ICE CREAMM?
mm, who doesn't love ice cream?
WELL. you can't have it anymore if your a vergitterian.
it also contains eggs. (:

In fact, many delicious treats, like chocolate and so forth, contain eggs.

When most people think of vegitterians, they only think about the whole 'meat' thing. they don't realize all the tasty sugary things can't be eaten either.

And if your wondering still what to eat.
basically, no treats, no pizza, or saleds [most tasty saled have like bacon or something in it],
or fast food, or anything really.

And, it doesn't really help you lose weight. if you want to lose weight, drink plenty of water, and take some walks.

and your good to go.

You don't just want to become a vegitarian. That's kinda...stupid. And yea you do lose weight actually. Alot. When I was in 6th grade, I lost 15 pounds in 2 months when I was a veg head. Yea. You lose weight. And there is alot of food you can eat. Tofu is my favorite, depending on what flavor and stuff.

Is a great place to start. It's kind of extreme, but it has really good recipies and stuff. I used to be a vegetarian, and it wasn't that hard for me. Even now that I eat meat, I still eat hardly any- you find meat substitutes you like, such as Boca burgers or those mushroom meatballs. Make sure you're taking a multivitamin everyday because you might not get all the nutrients you need. Also, make sure your doctor knows you're a vegetarian, because a lot of them don't get enough iron.

As for losing weight, it's hard to say. A lot of the American Idols are vegetarians and lost a lot of weight. I think it's because as a vegetarian, you're more aware of what you're eating, and you eat healthier food and less fats.
