I got a laptop about four months ago and it's always worked fine. However, recently it's been switching itself off for no apparent reason. Without any warning it will just completely shut off, without going through any shutting down processes or anything like that. It's only happened a few times but I don't want it to get any worse.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Or how I could fix it?
Volleyball2150 answered Monday April 16 2007, 3:06 pm: this sometimes happens to my computer too. I think it was because it was over heated because everytime it shut's off, the laptop is really hot and the fan underneath the laptop is full of dust. so i make sure I clean off the dust around and under the laptop and there's also this can with a straw attached to it and you spray it around the laptop and it makes the dust dissapear.

At the menu, use the arrow keys to select "disable automatic restart on system error"(or something like that). Press enter. Now, next time this happens, your computer will give you a Blue Screen Of Death, with information about your problem instead of shutting you down. You can use this information to help diagnose the problem. [ theymos's advice column | Ask theymos A Question ]
