Ok I'm gonna burst now. I haven't had enough sleep at all for the past few months. My room's in a very bad position. The road is just right in front of my room and the moment cars whiz by, I wake up, esp if they are huge trucks or buses.
In fact, my whole house is in a very bad arrangement. I live in a single storey house and all the rooms are exposed to the living rooms, kitchens and my neighbours. My neighbours can actually look into our rooms. So whenever any noise is made in the living room , kitchen or by our neighbours, it gets heard in our rooms.
I'm going crazy. My eye bags are very horrible and I look awful. Someone please help me! My dad and my sis seem to be able to sleep through all these noises but both my mum and I can't .
Please don't tell me to use the white noise machine or white noise because I don't think it'll work and besides, I don't intend to get one. Leaving the radio on doesn't help either. I actually got kept awake because of leaving the radio on. Anyone can help me to change my attitude towards such noises and for good ness sake, sleep properly at night? I don't think anyone's in a worse predicament than me.

You could also try to move your bed into the centre of the bedroom, if it's away from the walls it should help to minimise the level of noise that travels through them. During daylight, if you can put blinds at the windows, it should stop the neighbours being able to see into your house.
Not sure of the prices wherever you are, but your local pharmacy should have some to choose from. I would suggest the washable ones though for obvious reasons, lol.
uisforukelele answered Sunday April 15 2007, 8:30 pm: for the time being... nyquil. but, you could also try ear plugs, or one of those sleep masks that people used to wear. it will help if you can somehow get your room to be completely dark. also, if you have crap all over your bed or your floor, clean it up... i don't really why a clean room helps, but it does, trust me. you might want to buy a cd or make a playlist of really soft music to lull you to sleep? duckyville72 answered Sunday April 15 2007, 8:25 pm: well, maybe one way is to move. thats probably out of the picture, but you never know, amybe you can pop it into conversation.
Another way is to try to change the positioning of your bed. certain areas might get hit my the sound more than other areas. You should also try to rearrange some other furniture, maybe in a position that will block of the sound, while still making you room look appealing.
Another way is maybe try sleeping in another room a night or two, and see if there is a difference. Preferably a room thats farther away from the traffic. If you still cant sleep, something may be wrong.
I can admitt that i have had this happen. i live on a street with a horse stable a few houses down, and about a street over and over the LA river[[not really a river]] there is a freeway, and before the wall was up, it was hell.
What i did, was i changed my bed time, just a little earlier, becasue with that extra hour, the morning wasnt so bad. I also as i said, changed my bed positioning, and almost for a while kept my room air tight[[more like sound tight]] it really helped
i would also suggest maybe getting knew pillows, or bed covering, something to make you feel comfy.
i really do hop i helped. really try these, and if they dont work, maybe moving would be a good thing???? but maybe not. talk to your paretns about this, and really tell them, dnt just slip it into the conversation!

Don't let your room get complex and messy. Stay away from caffeine and sugar during the day, it will make you too hyper. And sugar gives you nightmares. Hope I helped!
