HELP!!

Question Posted Thursday April 12 2007, 8:00 pm

Ok well I tried out for play at my school and I got one of the lead roles. I was soooo nervous for the audtion and thought I did horrible, but I guess I didnt do as bad as I thought. The problem is that they're making me audition again. I have to read for the part that they cast me as and I'm scared that they'll take my part away from me! So if anyone has any ideas on how I can rehearse or keep my nerves down then that would be great...thanks!

what the heck is with the answer below me? lol anyways

i think you just take a deep breath and suck in alot of oxygen. Putting your head back helps heaps.

Say POSITIVE things about you like ITS OK I CAN DO IT.

Visualise yourself doing whatever it is you have to do – see yourself being really successful and pulling it off brilliantly. Whilst you’re imagining it make it a really bright and colourful picture with lots of sounds to back it up and make sure you feel really great inside when doing this. Like your favourite movie repeat it over and over again just how you expect it to be.

If you find yourself imagining bumming out and failing, turn those images you are playing in your mind into an old black and white movie with no sound and imagine you are watching it on a tiny old tv miles away that you can hardly see it. Your negative thoughts will disappear quickly.

imagine everyone dressed funny it will make you think that your not silly or stupid.
^^i dont think this works but its worth a try?

If they take your part away DONT worry people make mistakes and you learn from them so IF you get your part taken away just find out what you did wrong and learn from it=]

ALSO if you keep practicing your lines or whatever then im sure you will go on stage with confidence but only if you keep it POSITIVE

so do that :]

let me know how it goes
i hope i helped i spent
alot of time on this =]]

oh and one more thing if i didnt help google might help so give that a shot =]

Be confident in yourself. You would only have got this far if they thought you had done good, as you said.

A good way to bring your nerves down a little is to practice talking to a group of people. Try practicing infront of a group of your friends or even infront of your family (just ask them if they can help you with your nerves by watching while you run through a few lines infront of them).

Hopefully that will help a little with your nerves. Other than all I can suggest is practice. Try reading the lines infront of a mirror as well, that will also help. When your out there just concentrate on the job at hand and try not to worry about anything else otherwise it will all be on the back of your mind and will get in the way. You'll do fine. :]

A well known phrase for actors and those in the dramatic profession is "Break a leg", as I'm sure you are aware.

So quite simply, climb the tallest building you can find. 4 storeys is adequate, no more than 5. Hang off the window and recite the following:

"ROMEO OH ROMEO WHERE ART THOU ROMEO?!"

Then jump, screaming "ROMEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" as you fall. If done correctly, you will have broken a leg and you'll do FANTASTICALLY at the audition.

If done incorrectly, well, you're paralysed from the neck down. For life. Acting is a dangerous profession.
