i'm lactose intolerant, so i can't eat anything with dairy. no cheese, no yogurt, no milk.
most of my favorite foods have cheese in them, and i can't eat them anymore. i can't eat mac & cheese, no more pizza, no more cheesecake, or cheese crackers (goldfish/cheesenips), or things like that. i can't even eat ice cream.
i can eat them, but i end up getting sick, and i hate it. what are things i can eat (that appeal to a teenager's taste) & that won't get me sick?
turn-n-burn answered Wednesday April 11 2007, 8:30 pm: Well you can eat soy and also there are like french fries you can buy frozen ones and there are some cookies without milk and also you might really want to consider getting pills to help too, because if you eat dairy and you are getting sick and all that can put harm to your digestive system and also it is bad for your teeth. SOOYYYYYY.
Lol. It may sound gross, but you really can`t tell the difference!
Also, try going to diffrent exotic restaurants and try different foods, just making sure there are no dairy product in them! Then, you can determine what you really like & stick to that!
DearAbby92 answered Wednesday April 11 2007, 1:45 am: Soy. Soy milk, soy cheese, soy yougurt, soy ice cream, soy pizza, even! Soy may sound gross now, but I know a 7 year old girl who perfers soy food (and isnt lactose intolerant) over non-soy. Some times, you can't even taste the difference. And other times, some people perfer the difference over the norm. So take this as a oppurtunity to try new and healthy foods.
Good luck!

Note: In response to the poster below me (black fairy, or something, lol) gelato may be half the "fat" but has twice the sugar, just making it horrible for you. And Im sure you've been to your doctor and know basically what you cannot eat. (its not just the enzyme that causes the problem) [ DearAbby92's advice column | Ask DearAbby92 A Question ]
NinjaNeer answered Wednesday April 11 2007, 12:49 am: Last I checked, you could eat ALL of those things.
There are pills with the enzymes you need to digest lactose, sold at any drugstore. If you have talked to your doctor about it, they should have told you!
Anyways, as for ways to eat without dairy... you can still eat pizza! I don't like melted cheese, so I just eat it without the cheese. It's actually every bit as good.
Ice cream? Try gelato. It's dairy free, and lower fat than ice cream.
UPDATE: Please, READ my answer before jumping to conclusions and rating me low... In the paragraph after I said you can eat those things, I mentioned the Lactaid pills that you can buy at drugstores. [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]
