If i wore a tampon, would i be able to go to the pool or waterpark with it in?

Question Posted Tuesday April 10 2007, 10:30 pm

alright, this might be kind of a stupid question, but i just need advice.

i`m not comfortable wearing tampons, i don`t know why. i`ve tried, and i just don`t like it. eventually, it`ll be practical, sure, but for right now, i`m sticking with pads. i got my period in 6th grade, when i was 12, in december. i`m not in 7th grade and 13.

last summer, i didn`t go to the pool or anything when i was swimming, but i had my period when my whole family went to a waterpark, so i wore a tampon that day, but i didn`t like it, and it didn`t even do anything because my period stopped that day. so i don`t even know how well a tampon works for me, or if it would work well enough while swimming.

anyways, i hate having people ask me to go to the pool when i have my period and won`t go. so, if i wore a tampon, would i be able to go? or would it still be a good idea to just stay out of the water for that day? what if i`m going to a waterpark or something when i have it, should i wear a tampon then?

these might seem like stupid questions, but i wasn`t really sure. thanks in advance :D

i've heard from numerous people and my friends mom who is a specialist in this area..that the pearl tampons are bad for you. so i would avoid those. but yeah, find one that fits right and make sure you get it far enough up because if its not, that's when you feel it and it's really uncomfortable. and just like the girl below me, DONT let your period hold you back! definitly definitly go hang out with friends and family at a pool or waterpark even if you have your period. put a tampon in and forget about. then go have fun =]

Don't worry this wasn't a stupid question. Don't let your period hold you back. The tampon will deffinatly work during swimming. You just have to make sure that you get the right fit. Since you are still new at this, make sure you get slim fit tampons, I love the Tampax pearl, Playtex slim fits are also more comfortable. Also You have to make sure that you pushed it up as far as it could go, and on a slight angle.

I only wear tampons when I am going swimming, but once you use them more often they get more comfortable, and it feels so much better when you are actually in the water. When I am in the water I can't even feel it. Make sure your string isn't hanging out of your bottoms though!

You can wear a tampon anywhere. They're made for swimming, and that's honestly the only time I ever use them. I don't like the thought of having something in my vag, so I don't use them.

Yeah, you could wear a tampon in the water. same with a waterpark. thats one of the best things about them.

but heres a tip: id change them more often if youre going to be in the water for a while. it's not likely, but its possible that water will make its way up to the tampon and it will make the blood diffuse out. it happened to me once in the bath and it was pretty bad. i mean if it happened, im sure you could cover it up by kind of mixing the water around and running to a bathroom w a towel around your waist. it's really not a huge deal at all, but i'd take these steps to be careful.

but all in all, its definitely worth it.

Your questions aren't stupid, don't worry. You COULD swim in a pad, but there are so many bad reasons why you shouldn't. Pads can disolve in water & you can leak very easily. It would be a mess and I don't suggest that you do. Same goes for the waterpark. It's fine that you don't like tampons but a lot of girls are scared from them. To be, they're way more comftrable than pads but that's just my opinion. I suggest you wear tampons when you're doing any water activity.
