Ok my friend just turned 15. last yr. she was a little over weight, in aug. (when we returned to school) she looked great she lost a few pounds. however she was still losing weight until she is basicly skin and bones. in dec. her parents took her to a doctor because they suspected something. She has to go every 6 weeks for a weigh in. Every visit she weighed less, and according to her nothing felt wrong and she was eating alot and NOT throwing up. The test showed nothing either. They said if she didnt stop she would have to go to a therapist.
However, last week (Fri) she went to the stomach dr. and was put on medication. she and her bff said it was some disease that makes her throw up her food. i asked (to her BFF not her):"Is she bulimic?" She said no.
What else could it be? I mean to be frank, her BFF is very controlling and they only hang out with each other 24/7. She is hardly ever at home. She spends breaks/weekends/afternoons with her and her cousin, who is also losing wieght. She is also home alone for several hours after school and she could be doing stuff.
If the doctor was anything worth a doctor, he would have checked her throat and teeth. Bulimia has signs of stomach acid damage in the throat and teeth.
She is bulimic and so are her friend and cousins. They must be in a pack of helping each other do this to loose weight.
She need help and help now.
Talk to her parents, and if you can't.... Talk to a school counselor. Talk to the school nurse.
Let an authoritive figure get with her parents on this matter and to the correct doctor.
She will literally kill herself doing this because once started it's almost impossible to stop on your own. They get a body distortion phobia and that itself causese the continued bulimia even when down to 80 pounds.
SoccerCutiex3 answered Tuesday April 10 2007, 4:50 pm: it sounds like one of my friends and yeah it sounds like an eating disorder. try to talk to her about it and try to get the truth out of her. if she doesnt listen, theres nothing you can do and you shouldnt have to feel like her mom. I tried to tell my friend and she said yeah i know but didnt do anything. I dont think you should have to carry the weight of her. Just try to talk to her and maybe try to talk to her parents. i hope i helped :D [ SoccerCutiex3's advice column | Ask SoccerCutiex3 A Question ]
kaylalynn answered Tuesday April 10 2007, 4:19 pm: maybe she just might have a very fast matabolism( sorry i dont know how to spell it ) but if it goes too fast some times doctors can give medican to help to start it to go but maybe it just be that she is bulimic. its a high problem in teens. just maybe they dont want it to spread in gossip. =/
just maybe they might be doing excersizeses they all might we anerexix and think they are fat? (sorry about the spelling)
ductape_n_roses answered Tuesday April 10 2007, 4:19 pm: I don't know if there is an actual disease that makes people throw up but anybryars.
ED are common among teenage girls with all the tabloids telling people what they should look like: impossible.
If she is bulimic, there should be several signs that the doctors would've detected like brittle hair/nails. Blueish/grayish colored nails [lack of nutrition], bite marks on her fingers, worn out teeth [from stomach acid], etc. If they don't find any, I'm not sure if she would have an ED [unless this is recent].
You should suggest to her mom that she see a nutritionist so they can plan meals/exercise programs together to get her back on track. And try to spend more time with her but do NOT assume she has an ED of any sort until you have solid proof that says "She has an ED" Because she could be going through really hard stuff that's putting her under constant stress. Anybryars, good luck to you and your friend =) [ ductape_n_roses's advice column | Ask ductape_n_roses A Question ]
LM answered Tuesday April 10 2007, 4:15 pm: It's possible she's just losing weight more.
A therapist should weed out any possible issues though.
She probably just needs to exercise a little less or something. [ LM's advice column | Ask LM A Question ]

If not, she could have a thyroid problem. Depending on what kind it is, it can either make you gain or lose weight. I'm not sure if it makes you throw up though...I don't think so. [ lbwhite89's advice column | Ask lbwhite89 A Question ]
