if you don't want to go with the cliches, there's always the tuskegee airmen.

when rosa parks refused to give up her seat on the bus... that was a big one. pretty much anything martin luther king jr. did... he did a lot more than the "i have a dream" speech. also, when people quit having separate entrances to buildings for white/black people. they used to have separate drinking fountains too. pretty crazy stuff. the emancipation proclamation was kind of the beginning of it, but the white/black racism still hasn't ended yet.

yea i like the martin luther king jr. speech alot to but i did a report similar report to that on the bus boycott of 1955. i thought it was really interesting and i found a great movie (fiction) that helped me really get into it and understand it... its called "The Long Walk Home" it was made in 1990 & released in March 1991.. and it stars Woopie Goldburg && Sissy Spacek...

hope i helped!

hey

wow, well, rosa parks & martin luther king jr. came right to my mind.

maybe you could do a little research about how they contributed to their race?
