for school i have to write about an event that "broke down a wall" for racism meaning something that like opened new doors and stuff? i can't think of anything! does anyone have ideas?
uisforukelele answered Monday April 9 2007, 10:12 pm: when rosa parks refused to give up her seat on the bus... that was a big one. pretty much anything martin luther king jr. did... he did a lot more than the "i have a dream" speech. also, when people quit having separate entrances to buildings for white/black people. they used to have separate drinking fountains too. pretty crazy stuff. the emancipation proclamation was kind of the beginning of it, but the white/black racism still hasn't ended yet. MissCourtneyox answered Monday April 9 2007, 9:10 pm: yea i like the martin luther king jr. speech alot to but i did a report similar report to that on the bus boycott of 1955. i thought it was really interesting and i found a great movie (fiction) that helped me really get into it and understand it... its called "The Long Walk Home" it was made in 1990 & released in March 1991.. and it stars Woopie Goldburg && Sissy Spacek...
