Degrassi: the next generation
ok how come degrassi the next generation isn't coming on the N tonite? i thought there was a
new episode every night.

thre isnt a new episode on every night, but normally theres a repeat every night.
but this week the N is doing a promotion called "stay up and pay up". where there are 6 hour marathons of shows and if you stay up till the last one you get a code word. You can enter that code word on line or a chance at money. I guess tonight wasnt the degrassi marathon night.

but no theres not a new episode every night.
the new episodes are on friday nights. they stopped making new ones for awhile though. i think they are starting again like a little before the summer or something.

Have you checked out the official home page for Degrassi: The Next Generation? They have changed the design of the page a lot since I last logged on but if you hit "Episodes" it will tells you that they are now 13 episodes in to their 22 shows a year in season 6 in Canada at least.
The Web site has/had ( its somewhere on there still) a list of foreign broadcasters including The N in America and times and dates of the next episodes. If you search www.degrassi.tv long enough you'll soon find info on when the next show airs in your area.
Also, I don't know if this is still the case but America was one season behind Canada at one point with episodes because the N edits down the episodes and censors others. this could be why there are less new episodes of the series than usual.
When the show began in Canada in 2001 they only tape 13 half-hour episodes per year. Now CTV which has a contract for the show in Canada has Epitome Pictures produce 22 episodes of the show per year.
Odds are the N may have pre-empted an episode for reasons unknown or that they have run out of new ones to broadcast. Right now they are 13 episodes in to a 22 episode season in Canada for season six.
Another reason that is most likely for there being no new episodes near you is that members of the Canadian actor/director/screenwriters union ACTRA were on strike a month ago and no new or current products could film anything in Canada util it was resolved unless granted special permission.
I know that as I sometimes work as an extra in Toronto where Degrassi is filmed and everything shut down with all the American projects that were to shoot in Canada going back to the States for new shooting locations.
Anyways, give their official site a whirl and or head to the N's site and look for a way to contact them by phone and ask for the programming dept. who can tell you why its not on should it not air again next week. You might be able to e-mail the station too.

Nope, there's usually a new episode every Friday night, but they might need more ideas, so may take a little longer. If there was going to be a new episode, they would've advertised it during the week.
