Now that I have it at home im wondering if it screams PROM to me, it needs some alterations and it was kinda expensive (300 Bux) Do you think its just me being a nervous person or do you think I should stick with my gut feeling???

This might not be the best advice (and if it isn't please don't rate), but if you don't like it you can always sell it on ebay...or you can wear it to the prom and donate it to girls who can't afford prom dresses...but if you like it wear it. Alterations are going to cost more and it was already 300 bucks, you need to ask yourself if that dress is really worth it. If it is, then keep it. If its not, return it and I'm sure there is a dress out there waiting for you =) [ beckss's advice column | Ask beckss A Question ]
