arm hair removal

Question Posted Thursday April 5 2007, 12:55 pm

15/f I want my arm hair removed, but I don't want to shave it off, because I heard it comes back thicker and darker and faster, and I also hear these stories about people who have shaved their arms really regret it. Since waxing your legs after a while, it doesn't really grow back would the same technique happen to your arms? I've tried bleaching and stuff and its not like I have a lot of arm hair its just long pieces of it, I even tried trimming my arm hair lol.

So my question is has anyone had their arm hair waxed and how did it work, cause I really want to wax it, but I don't want to regret waxing it. (ps. I'm talking about arm hair not arm pit hair)
thanks so much!!

If you opt not to wax, try using Nair. It makes the hair grow back thinner, softer, and lighter, unlike shaving.
I'm not sure how waxing effects the new hair growth, because I'm not fond of self torture (LOL) but I have used Nair on my legs and I got the results on the new growth as I described above.

Don't shave. I've tried, and my mom noticed and explained to me what will happened when it grows back, and it grows back badly and worse.

Definitely get them waxed.
Talk to the local salon about trimming, bleaching, and this stuff professionally, because waxing IS indeed painful!

It is a total myth that shaved hair grows back thicker and darker. Your hair follicles won't grow because of shaving. The reason it seems like way is because of the length. If you had soft, but long hair on your legs before shaving and then now you get rough stubble after shaving, that doesn't mean it grew back thicker. If you grew your leg hair long, it would go back to being soft.

As for your arms...waxing is painful IMO no matter which part of the body it's on. If you go for shaving, you'd have to do it every day to keep them smooth.

To be honest I wouldn't advise it. Everyone I know that's done it has regretted it. And having stubble on your arms when it's growing back does not feel good.

Either way, if it's really bothering you you can get laser hair removal. Which will remove it permenantly.
If it's just the length of it that bothers you, you could keep trimming it.
I just really wouldn't advise waxing or shaving. For one waxing would be painful on your arms, I should imagine and like you've said shaving does make it come back darker sometimes.

yeah, wax them. the idea of not growing back, works for all parts of the bosy as the hot wax takes the hair out at the folicle. so yeah, wax them if you want to.

i've never done anything with arm hair removal [except for the pits! lol] but one of my good friends swims so she shaves her arms.. and it's no big thing for her.. but if you just want it gone, then there's no need for it really.. everyone has hair on their arms and its really not a big deal.. its one of those things that no one notices but you =) but i would imagine it grows back like leg hair.. so do what you want =) and waxing your arms doesn't seem like it would hurt too badly.. but my friend shaves them and she says she doesn't mind ♥

Yes, I have. It is just like shaving you legs. It grows back after a while. I totally regret it.

There are other things you can do. You can get it waxed off. BUT THAT HURTS! All girls have hairy arms. Not many girls I know shave their arms.
