You would create an equation which would look like this...
(X)+(X+1)+(X+2)+(X+3)=-66
you have X to represent your starting variable which would be the first number in the consequtive 4. Once you get X it's obviouse what the other three would be.
first you have to combie like terms- 4X+6=-66
add 6 to -66 to get -60, then divide that by 4 to get -15 which is your first consecutive number.
-15, -16, -17, and -18. ]
There isn't a formula, it's just guess and check. The answer for that is -15 + -16 + -17 + -18. Consecutive integers are right next to each other on the number line; counting up or down. ]
Consecutive means in a row, right? So, just find 4 integers that are like this:
1, 2, 3, 4. Like counting. Integers can be negative or positive, so just try that. Also, your four numbers will be in the teens if that was the actual question to solve. Your answers might be -13, -14, -15, & -16.
Just think of numbers that come right after one another like as if you're counting, and then do it that way. It'd be better if you made a chart. Draw four lines, put a line through. Put first number, second number, third number, fourth number, and the number those integers are supposed to make together, and figure it out that way. ]
