To start, make a proper fist. Make sure your fingers are all tucked in, with your thumb over top. DO NOT tuck your thumb in, and don't let it stick out past your knuckles.
With your hand in a fist, pull it back as far as you can. Your fist should be level with your chest, palm up. I know it's not quite comfortable, but it's how you get more power.
When you punch, use your other arm to help your punch gain momentum. Pull it in to the same position your punching arm started in.
While extending your arm, gradually twist your arm until your hand is facing palm down.
