does Rosie O'Donnell have a point?

Question Posted Sunday April 1 2007, 8:36 pm

On the show The View, Rosie said something like the British and U.S. staged 9/11 to start another war. Does she have a point, or is this complete B.S.?

She also said that if we want to know what's going on in the world, we should go outside the country's media because it's frightening. Is our media really feeding us lies and omitting global events?

I'm not exactly sure. It could've just been her opinion, and if so then it wasn't factual based. Merely a thought.

Yeah. The media does feed us lies. They can only show so much on tv & tell so much in the newpapers & the net. If they were to tell us everything that was going on, it'd be chaos. Most people wouldn't be able to hand it to you. It's not all lies, but it's mostly what we can handle & what they can show.

I'm pretty sure you don't wanna wake up & turn the news on to see someone getting their head blown off. Correct?

Read the book "1984" by George Orwell. It will give you a completely different outlook on the media. And the government...
Though it is a fictional story, one could believe that it isn't impossible.

Just a suggestion.

That Britain and the U.S. staged an event to kill hundreds of our own citizens to start a war is a statement that can't just be thrown around like that. On what evidence does she claim that do be true in the first place? If that is her own opinion, then fine, her opinion on that isn't disputable, because it is just an opinion, not facts. I don't believe that is true.

Our country's media is probably at the root for most of the social problems we are facing today.

Think about this:
The leading newspaper companies' editors, which I would have to say number in less than 3000 people, decide what gets put on the paper, what priority is given to which topic, and what is left out. For a country of about 300 million, why should we depend solely on what less than .1% of our population decides is important? I don't think that they are feeding us lies, but I know that they are not telling us the entire story, black and white.

There is something in the media called a 'shock factor.' Basically, the higher the shock factor of a story, event, or show, the better the ratings. The more ratings and purchases made of papers, the more money is made. So who is to stop them from bending things around to increase that shock factor? Nobody. They hide behind the first amendment and pledge to publish the truth. Well...they never said anything about leaving things out, as they most often do.

O'Donnell likes to stir up controversy, but I couldn't tell you if thats just who she is or if its for those ratings. I don't put my faith in most of the media. The best thing to do would be to gather your information from various trusted sources, not just the AP or what you hear on TV. I'll leave it up to you to decide on whats right. Hope that helped.

There are conspiracy theorists who say that 9/11 is a staged attempt at getting us into war. You can read some of Rosie's information by going to her website. Here's a link to some of her information.
[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

She said that nothing should have caused the collapse of Building 7 of the WTC and that it was caused by explosives to hide government secrets? I just don't believe that, myself. I believe that the blasts, fireballs, heat, and ground shaking of the structural collapse of the twin towers can explain the collapse of that building.

Here's what I think about what she said: I don't think she can back up a single thing she said, but she has been so vague about 'government secrets' (which ones?) and 'conspiracies' (by whom?) that no one can prove she's full of it, either. She didn't accuse any one person of hiding any one secret. She has no evidence.

The truth is probably somewhere between what we are told and what Rosie is alluding to. I believe we are mislead by our media and by our government. I believe we went into the Iraq war based upon lies and that we went into Afghanistan and invaded a whole country to catch a few extremists. I also believe that our national politics do favor Israel and that Israel was given land that belonged to Arabs because "God promised" them that land in the Bible thousands of years ago. The Palestenians have a right to be heard and they have a right to be treated fairly. However, land wars are the way land has been won as long as man has been organized into tribes. Countries fight over land. We, America, shouldn't be siding with anyone else, though, in my opinion.

Isn't it interesting to know that Tony Blair was basically forced out of his office as PM of Great Brittain because of his close and unpopular relationship with Bush? Did you hear much about that? The American press does not report all of the same things in the same way that the world press reports.

For all of our flag-waving and "freedom of speech" protestations, America is a flawed country. We have an obligation as Americans who love our country to get all the facts, think for ourselves, and try to get the right people to represent us.

Personally, I'd love to see Bush impeached!

I hope you find answers to your questions.
