My World History class is SO effing BORING! I fall asleep EVERY time I'm in that class...and the thing is...we're not allowed to sleep...otherwise, we get an F for the day. And I can't help it. My eyes close...and I can't stop it lol. What's the best way not to fall asleep?

Moop answered Saturday March 31 2007, 5:03 pm: I fell asleep a lot during my freshman year world history class. I honestly couldn't bring myself to enjoy learning about all those dead guys and as a result, I got Cs. The next year I had a really awful teacher for history and I really appreciated how great my freshman year teacher really was. Junior year I took AP European History with that same teacher and found myself dozing off slightly, so I started drinking coffee in his class. Then it became various bits of food. And I really loved AP Euro. I had an appreciation for history after my sophomore year. This year I'm taking a second year on World (AP-style) and I don't even need to reward myself for staying awake. freyball answered Saturday March 31 2007, 2:20 am: the other answers make sence but they all involve something you dont want to do when your tired i have the same problem with my biology class but instead of getting an F my teacher wil lhold me late for lunch because she knows im hungery at 1 o clock but anyways what i usually do is draw in my spiral or sing a song in my head over and over again just to get me thinking about somethign else other then being tired but i know what you mean about the class being boring and your eyes closing i go throught that every day jsut find somehting else to occupy your time like homework or even try scaduto or something along those lines [ freyball's advice column | Ask freyball A Question ]
jlle answered Saturday March 31 2007, 12:05 am: Things like gum and candy do always help, and so does sitting up straight--it keeps your breathing deeper and doesn't wear you out. Also, you want to keep your circulation going--flex and wiggle your toes, kick your feet if possible... and I know this sounds strange, but the best thing you can do to keep yourself alert is to clench and unclench the muscles in your butt. It's possible to do less noticably and it should keep your blood moving and your heart rate up just enough that it isn't too hard to stay awake. [ jlle's advice column | Ask jlle A Question ]

What I always do is always bring a bag of jolly ranchers and put a ton in my pocket then just suck on them. It helps me stay awake in history even when Im about to not fall asleep. Plus its sugar. Chewing gum does. Whatever it is just keep yourself busy and maybe catch up on your sleep. Hope that helped ya.
