Hello everyone! I want to first of all thank you for taking the time to read this- I know that it gets very busy on this site! Alright- to get started. About four days ago, I stubbed my little pinky toe. It did not hurt at first, but then about two hours later, I was crying in pain. I am pretty sure that it is broken, because of the bruising, and it now the bones are not lined up as they were. I am not sure what I can do about it. The doctors cannot do anything, because they can not put such a little cast on a toe. Is there anything I can do to help it heal faster?
Moop answered Thursday March 29 2007, 11:08 pm: generally you should always have an x-ray to get an estimate on how long you should be gentle on whatever it is you broke. whether or not you get one and whether or not it is broken, you should tape your pinky toe to the next one in for about a month and a half and lay off physical activity besides walking for at least two weeks. unless it's the big toe which adjusts your balance, you will always simply tape your toes together and go on your way. It'll heal the right way after they do that. If you try to do it yourself, you may not line up the bones right, and your toe will look weird after it heals.
So really, the money you spend at the doctors will be worth not having a curly-fry shaped toe for the rest of your life.
Regardless of what you or doctors do, put plenty of ice on your foot (to minimize swelling) and raise it above your heart whenever possible (pillows work well)
