hi, well you know how when you buy a pair of new shoes, you get a packet of "silica" in them, and it says "do not eat", what happens if you do eat it? just curious, thanks

Umm I think it sais that because there's like a little poison stuff in it to help make the shoes still smell good.But I doubt it would kill you or do anything bad.

Well, once I put it in some water and it started popping. So it probably does the same thing in your stomach. and it absorbs moisture, so you could possibly get dehydrated.

I accidently ate that once :] lol. It tastes like plastic and rubber...but its really bad. My throat got really dry afterwards too.

Silica is a desiccant, meaning that it removes moisture from its surroundings. If you ingest it, it will absorb moisture from your stomach, which could make you sick.

I always have the compulsion to eat them though... I'm glad it's not just me!

Not much. It would taste bad. I've heard it takes a lot of water to get it washed down. I don't advise you to eat it though, it is just for absorbing moisture. :)
