cutting

Question Posted Sunday March 25 2007, 11:40 pm

I cut myself for the first time today. I'm afraid that cutting will become something that I do regularly. I need to figure out how to get over cutting, because i already feel like i'm a crazy person. pleaseee help!

oh and don't tell me to google. i did, and i read nearly all of the search results. reading some of them makes me want to cut even more.

i'd love to hear a response from a person who has gone through this.

i have cut and still cut but we all have our reasons. don't worry your not crazy. cutting can be psychical pain over mental pain. to let you know when my "friends" took me down to guidance. they did nothing for it because my scars were light. i think you'll be fine. and if you still want to cut, i would suggest ankle that's where i cut. i only cut when something wicked bad happens or something pisses me off.
but good luck remember your not crazy just expressing your felling.

hey, its ok i used to do it. the main reason people cut themselves is usally because of extreem depresion or family problems( parents are into alchol etc.) if its because of stress try to find the source and eliminate it. try to relaxe and when you feel the need to cut yourself find something else to do. call a friend, go on the computer etc. your not crazy i promise.

my tharapist told me all this shit and it helped me so it might help you.

ok...first you need to ask yourself why you cut,and how it felt.you are not a real cutter if you hesitate, feel pain,or just want a cry for help.if you really are a cutter you would rather watch yourself bleed than to cry.you wouldn't feel the pain because of the adrenalin, and you wouldn't be able to stop unless you felt satisfied.you probably need someone to talk to,you probably feel alone and lost in the world but keep in mind that you are never alone.if you ever need help, please keep in touch with me.i have myspace...my url is tast33tina.or you can find my email.beantownsrealest@yahoo.com.please dont be afraid to ask questions

this didn't happen but it did to my friend and i helped her through it. as soon as you feel like you wanna cut, go outside or do something to keep your mind off it. if that doesn't help, then go to the dollar store and get a cheap stuffed animal, and take you anger out on it.
hope i helped!

I used to cut when i was in a deep pit of depression, apart from finding distractions such as watching your favourote dvd, reading magazines, doing puzzle books just to make yourself think about something else, and also keeping your hands busy with writing, typing ect, you also need safer ways to get your anger or frustration out or whatever it is that is making you cut.

For some people seeing the blood makes them feel better, others feel better from the pain, sometimes its a mixture of both like with myself.

So if it's the blood that makes you feel better then fake it. Put red paint on your wrists, or felt pen. I used some strawberry extracts from hand cream because the strawberry smudged and looked like blood on my wrists which did make me feel better, it also kept me distracted so i didnt feel the need to cut my self properly.

If the pain is what makes you feel better then use ice cubes on your wrists, it will sting and feel like your cutting but it wont actualy do any harm.

I got these tips from a top psychologist who was talking about self harm on a youth tv show, they really do work too.

I have cut myself... And it was stupid of me because i did it just to gain my bf attention who left me after some days because he thought I was crazy...so I told myself that cutting myself would not get me any sympathies...It will just drive people away from me...My friends did sympathise with me...But that's about it. So I stopped myself because trust me..it's no good...All you're left with is pain and heartache.

You need to get yourself out of the situation where you can cut.

If you cut with razors, put all your razors in your parents' room or somewhere where you cannot access them. Whatever you cut with, put it somewhere where you can't get it or throw it away.

If you cut in your bedroom, keep your door wide open at all times.

Just make it so that you absolutely cannot.

If all else fails, tell a friend that you trust not to rat on you. Tell them that you're quitting. Just knowing that if you cut, you'll disappoint someone, might help.

Find something to do. Video games, computer games, reading, writing, even if it's tearing pieces of paper up occupy yourself.

Reasons not to cut:
- It looks awful. Especially since it's spring, nearing summer. And the scars can last a really long time.
- Risk of infection, and then you'll have to go to the doctor.
- It's next to impossible to hide the cuts. Whether it's a dressing room, locker room or just taking off your jacket cuz it's hot, there's no realistic way to hide it.
- Cutting is very self-serving.
- People make fun of cutters. Sad but true.

If you feel that this may become a regular habit, you should talk with a psychologist who can help you get at why you want to cut yourself and how you can resolve those issues. It's also a good thing to find other ways to busy yourself--more activities, like sports, can provide an outlet. You could also try writing your feelings down in a journal instead.

Good luck! I've had friends who've gotten through it, and you can too.

I'm really sorry but i have not gone thorugh this but my friend has..if your scared that your going to do it regulrly go to a councler or talk to a friend. Play video games, or if you really feel an urge to do it, brake things, it is a lot better than cutting yourself. If you cut yourself to bad once it could be the end. You dont want that to happen, how do u think your parents and friends and how it would effect thm.. they all love you and dont want you to do that. I hope i helped, and make your own choice.

Ok this is something serious, I went through a stage of this when I was a bit younger! It's not pretty!

I used to cut all over my body, even in places you thought were impossible!

Sweety you need to talk to someone before it gets out of hand! This isn't a habbit you want to pick up!

You don't want scars on your body for the rest of your life, you want to be able to look beautiful all the time and scars are painful things that never go away!

Talking and opening up to people is the best way to get your feelings out, I didn't think I had any problems but it turns out the list was endless!

Talk to someone who you know can help, not someone who is doing the same thing! That will just encourage you a little bit more!

When you feel like you want to cut do something to destract you, don't let this take over your life... people die from it and you have so much more to live for!
