I have dance classes 3 days a week- but I'm still 170. I really don't eat too much (at least I don't think I do). I want to develop and stick to a regular exercise program outside of dance classes but I don't know what to do.
I have a treadmill and an elliptical trainer.
How do I develop my stamina so I can run a mile without stopping?
The MOST I can do is 5 minutes (about 1/2 a mile) at 5 mph without stopping... and then I have to walk for a while.

as for eating..even if you don't eat that much, it really depends on what your eating. if your eating just cookies, chips, or other junkfood, of course your not going to loose any weight. try replacing these foods with carrots, celery sticks, and even some fruits. eat five times a day. breakfast, in-between snack, lunch, another snack, and then dinner. Try not eating more than 2000 calories a day. and don't eat less then 1200.

dance classes is a great way to lose weight. running too!
now you said that you can only run for 5 minutes straight... thats good! what helps me is to listen to music while i exercise. Choose some really loud and pumping music to get you energized. do something to get your mind off of exercising.. like run on the treadmill while watching tv.... you'll be amazed at how long you can run
if you think about exercising while doing it, you wont get that far... instead choose some distractions so that way you won't realize how long you've been doing it.
eat a lot of proteins... You SHOULD eat... don't go bulimic or anorexic.
Eat small amounts of food every hour or so. Like a banana.
Dring LOTS of water!
70% of your body weight is water, but trust me... my mom went on a diet and she's been drinking lots of water and she lost a lot of pounds. Go to a local gym and experiment the machines there. Lift weights and don't do too much too soon.
