Music and drugs?

Question Posted Thursday March 8 2007, 3:50 pm

Does anyone know of some artist that used drugs while they wrote or played music?I don't mean that as in during a period when they did drugs,I mean literally were on them while they wrote.

Additional info, added Thursday March 8 2007, 3:51 pm:
This isn't as important, but were the band Pink Floyd heavily into drugs for most of their career?I've heard of them saying that they hardly touched them, but I've also heard that they only said so because they didn't want to hurt their publicity.

Thanks.

Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze is about drugs.
The Beatles Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. It stands for LSD
Janis Joplin - acid queen
Pink Floyd

jimi hendrix, janis joplin... there are tons of musicians that use drugs to write. yes, pink floyd did do drugs. if you've ever listened to "dark side of the moon," you'll see what i'm talking about because it's what some call pot-smoking music.

Add The Beatles to YG's list.

If you need evidence of this, think about the song "Yellow Submarine" for a second.

Exactly.

I don't know for sure bout Pink Floyd but the list is probably pretty long.

The guys from Aerosmith are a sure bet. Steven Tyler
and Joe Perry. Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, Lots of them unfortunately. :)
