Question Posted Tuesday March 6 2007, 9:59 pm

for the past like 3 months or so the week after i get off my period i get sick.. it sucks majorly, so i was wondering does it lower your immune system or is it just a bunch of coincidences, and if it does, will birth control help it? because usually i only get sick once or twice a year and this sucks...

Well, when you have your period, you're losing iron, so you constantly need to be drinking water, because it will lower you're immune system if not.So just drink a lot of water during your period. Hope you feel better! =]

What kind of symptoms do you experience? I know being weak/tired/faint is probably a sign that you're anemic & losing a lot of blood. No matter what it is, if it's a "major" problem that's affecting your daily life, you should set up an appointment with your gynecologist. They'll be able to answer all your questions & birth control may end up being an option. Hope all goes well!

having your period does lower your immune system. i don`t know if birth control helps, but it might, i suggest you ask your gynecologist.

a lot of girls get sick from their period actually. i would suggest going to a gynocologist for answers. they know exactly what they're doing & they can give you better advice for your symptoms. birth control helps cramping for the most part, but can most likely help with other symptoms you might have during your period. talk with a doctor & they'll tell you what to do in detail.

-hope that helped!♥
