big pony tail

Question Posted Tuesday March 6 2007, 8:05 am

Ok do you see girl's who have pony tails wear it get thinner and thinner as it goes down?

My hair is really fat and poofy so when my hair is in a poney tail it like flares out and instead of it being in like a tear drop shape, it's like a long rectangle hanging down.

I want to make it like normal girl's so what can I tell the hair cutter to do?

Aw, your hair is so nice! It's not be like a "normal" girl's hair because it's better! Just because it's not normal doesn't mean it sucks. Thick hair is attractive. If you are really set on "fixing" it though, I would suggest getting layers. If your hair is thick and poofy, thinning shears might not do a bit of good. My mom tried them once and her hair didn't look any different at all. Good luck and please reconsider! :)

Ask your hairstylist to take some thinning sheers to your hair, just to thin it out a little bit because that will make it less 'poofy', then ask for a longer layer and maybe some straightening product that you could apply before bedtime and before blowdrying that would tame it. Paul Mitchell and Regis have wonderful Serums for this, but if you're on a budget, Aussie and Infusium 23 have wonderful products!

Good Luck!

If you have poofy hair you should cut your hair in long layers, or what they refer to as "graduated layers" and thin it out some too. The graduated layers start at the bottom of your hair and graduate up. They give your hair an "all one length" look rather than the layered look as you cannot even see the layering. The graduated layers and occasional thinning simply take the bulk and frizz out of your hair and allow it to grow downward in length rather than outward.

I don't know if this is right, but they probably have layers. :)
