LadyH answered Wednesday February 28 2007, 11:51 pm: That's extremely unhealthy. You're supposed to be getting around 1,800-2,000 calories a day. Cutting back your calorie intake that dramatically is a sign of anorexia. If you keep that up for so long, you're going to suffer from a lot of heart/health problems later on in life, if you live to see them. Trust me, I have to deal with a few myself. If you were decide to temporarily stick with that diet, your metabolism will crash & you will gain all that weight back (& quite possibly more) once you returned to your normal eating habits. A healthier approach would be to eat 5-6 small meals/snacks throughout the day. If your body gets in the routine of eating every few hours, it'll burn those calories faster because it knows it'll be eating sooner. Then stick to a 30 minute-1 hr workout 3-5 times a week & you should see results within a couple-few weeks. [ LadyH's advice column | Ask LadyH A Question ]
Daimeera answered Wednesday February 28 2007, 10:51 pm: That is an incredibly unhealthy idea. You might lose weight initially, but you will gain it all back and more, not to mention screw up your metabolism. Exercising on very few calories is also very dangerous.
Try incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your diet, eating at least 1200 calories per day, and exercising on that.
DearAbby92 answered Wednesday February 28 2007, 10:30 pm: You sound perfect for your height and weight. Im shorter than you and I weigh like 130 and Im not fat.
Rapid weightloss over a week is impossible. You wont lose a noticable amount of weight, and you'll just be endangering your health. Even if you stopped eating for a week it wouldnt make a huge impact on your body size, but it would take a toll on your health.
2000 calories is the reccomended amount of calories daily for the average person. If you dont get enough, you wont have any energy for the day or to work out.
Try toning and gaining some muscle instead. You'll be tigther, slimmer, and healthier. This can be done with cardio and weight training. Why dont you join a gym (like LA Fitness) where they have trainers you can ask all your questions too and make a plan thats suited for your body.

Eating 0-500 calories a day is called starving yourself! You will put your body in starvation mode and all it will do is cause your body to hold on to everything you DO eat and store it as fat. Which isn't what you want at all.
Eat small, balanced meals throughout the day, exercise 20-30 minutes most days, and you'll be fine.
To answer your original question, people dieting normally (1200-1500 calories a day) can expect to lose 2 lbs a week, on average. [ LM's advice column | Ask LM A Question ]
