I have had to do that with panties before. It's a good idea to always carry one pad or tampon in your purse even when you are not menstrating just in case.
Never put anything that's stained in the dryer.
Think you should have soaked in cold water, then washed in cold water right away.
That's happened to many women. Wear your older non sexy panties during your period. [ mitzi's advice column | Ask mitzi A Question ]

It wouldn't hurt to try that and maybe oxyclean. I know that when I worked in a hospital, we always tried to use plain old hydrogen peroxide and cold water to remove blood stains. It usually works. If the clothes have gone through the dryer, though, you're going to have a hard time getting the stain out no matter what.

But for future reference:
Treat jeans with a stain remover and scrub with COLD WATER. Let your jeans soak for a while in detergent and than scrub again. That will get the majority out. Use a pretreater and wash in cold water, and hopefully the stain will come out. The sooner you do this after its been stained, the better of a chance you have of it coming completely out.
