You're lucky I agree with you that it's confusing. But really, do your own homework and do a google search for awhile. It's much faster than asking on here.
It's also a great discussion starter, if you've got a history teacher that loves to talk. Ask him to explain it in simple english; it's actually quite an interesting topic when you go more in-depth.
