I really want to get a small heart tattooed on the middle of my wrist. (Random -- but there's a story with it and such.) The thing is, I know tattoos are already painful to begin with (I've never gotten one before though), and there's that really pokey bone right where I want the tattoo to go. So basically it will hurt like hell. Has anyone else gotten a tattoo on their wrist like that before and how bad does it hurt?? Thanks!

LadyH answered Sunday March 25 2007, 4:32 pm: I don't have a tattoo on my wrist, but I do have a couple tattoos (one on my lower back & one on my right side). Honestly, I think you imagine the process to be much more painful than it actually it is. But it all varies per person. Since the tattoo will be going somewhere close to the bone, it'll more than likely feel more awkward/discomfort than painful. My friend got a tattoo on the top of her foot & experienced more "vibrating" than anything when the needle would "hit" the bone. For some it may be painful, but for others it may just be a minor discomfort. When I got my lower back tattoo & the needle got closer to my tail bone, it was more painful. But if it makes you feel any better, I laughed & had conversations through my tattoos, so I can't imagine it being that bad - especially if it's small. If it was really that bad, I wouldn't be planning to get my third tattoo. :) [ LadyH's advice column | Ask LadyH A Question ]

Re,ber it is a needle going up and down through your skin, but if your prepared for the pain, good luck! [ _wishes's advice column | Ask _wishes A Question ]

you will be in pain for about a week, but youll have the tattoo for your whole life.
also make SURE you get it done at a VERY profesonal place clean too cause there are so many huge vains there and the skin in thin there so its easy to get ink in your vessels which is deadly if not geting medical attechon. so make sure the tattoo artest is really experninced and sure about what he/shes doing!
OverAllComa answered Tuesday February 20 2007, 9:33 pm: I'd be far more concerned with your ability to present yourself in a professional setting in the future. I myself have a tattoo on my arm that is about 8 inches tall and 4 inches across, but its nicely above the t-shirt line. The next 4 I have planned are all out of sight while fully clothed, a route you might consider taking. [ OverAllComa's advice column | Ask OverAllComa A Question ]
christina answered Tuesday February 20 2007, 8:08 pm: My brother has 24 tattoos, and he's gotten those in 3 years. So, about 8 a year. If he can handle that, I'm sure you can handle a simple little heart on your wrist. [ christina's advice column | Ask christina A Question ]
