Very. If not just to get you into college, then to get you merit scholarships so that you won't be in a heap of debt after you graduate. A variety of activities, especially ones where you can take a leadership role, will greatly enhance your chance of getting in as well as your chance of getting money from schools and from outside scholarship groups. ]
they make your college application look better, but they are not absolutely necessary. ]
They're pretty important. You could be the best student ever, have the best grades & apply to all the colleges in the world, but without any extra curricular's, you probably won't get in. They stand out on a job application & a college application. If they know you've been active during your school years, they'll want you because it shows that you're a hardworker, & that you're responsible. So, I'd say they're pretty important for a job app, and a college app. ]
Well, when I WAS applying to colleges (i am in college already) my counselor and when i visited colleges both asked if I had good extracurriculars, FIRST OFF. They both said that now, extracurriculars are a big deal when applying and getting in. A studen with a 3.8 can apply to all the colleges but still won't get into any because they don't have the extra-c's.
The reason why it is important is because it makes you stand out, it shows colleges that you have interests and that you put your effort into something. It's important and if you're applying to colleges right now and have one then I would go and join a club with your church or do some community service like at the library. It will help. ]
Yes extracurricular activities look good on your college application and they will help you make friends you never thought you would and prepare you for the future you will be more rounded when you go to college and know how to fall in and mingle with different types of people. ]
I got into college without doing any lol.
Wouldn't hurt to do some though ]
They, actually, are very important.
I mean- having good grades is nice and all.. but it sometimes isn't enough. Having extra-curricular activities shows a college that you are more than just book smart, you also have a healthy body, etc.
They sometimes can be the boost that gets you into a college over someone else.
Like Boy/Girl Scouts are great programs to be involved in, or the band for school, or whatever.
It is probably a good idea to have some type of ECA.
Hope I helped!
