the crime or tort of unconsented physical contact with another person, even where the contact is not violent but merely menacing or offensive. See also assault and battery . [ hco_babe's advice column | Ask hco_babe A Question ]
LagunaBabe answered Wednesday February 7 2007, 10:26 pm: You can think of battery just about the same as assault. If you put your hands on someone else, or beat them up, that would be considered battery. [ LagunaBabe's advice column | Ask LagunaBabe A Question ]
MikeCFT answered Wednesday February 7 2007, 7:11 pm: Depends on what state you live in. Some states have Battery as putting your hands on a person who doesn't want to be touched- doesn't even need to be that you beat them up.
Some states like my home of NY for example don't even have Battery listed in the penal code and just classify it as Assault.
