I take German in school (I'm in 10th grade and started learning it in 7th) and I'm in the German exchange this year. I'm having an exchange student stay with me for 12 days in about 2 weeks. The nearness is scaring me! I think I'll be really shy and awkward with her. ?? And if I have a lot of homework or something what is she supposed to do? I just am starting to feel weird about it.
And I leave in late June to early July to go stay with her in Germany for 12 days then go with my classmates to tour the country for 8. I'm really scared mostly because of being away from my boyfriend. I know I can't predict the future but I will say I HOPE we will still be together then. I just worry about anything happening while I am gone.

i've been using certain dri for like a month already and i've been putting it on every night.
but it's not really working. you can still see my sweat stains the next day...is there something i'm doing wrong?
i apply it at night but it says that i should only do a few strokes..like how many strokes is that?
and it's really really ichy so i scratch my underarms does that affect it in any way?

Don't use it right after you shave, and only apply it every 2 or 3 days. Apply enough to cover the whole area with just a layer of the certain dri. It should help you stop itching, for sure. But if it still doesn't help you with your sweating then you could see a doctor for a perscription anti-perspirant.

heres the thing. i do fine not pigging out or eating bad foods during the day, but as soon as night comes i'm bored and have nothing to do. so i just eat, like nothing has calories & im a bottom less pit. its horrible, i want to stop, but my body has gotten so used to pigging out late at night and even if im not hungry i still eat it because im bored. I have the exact same problem. I try to keep myself busy but I usually end up snacking while I'm on the computer (which was how I was trying to keep myself busy in the first place!) So I know how you feel. I think what works best is trying to just drink water. A lot of times people don't know their thirst from hunger, and water will help. I still snack when I'm not hungry too, but if you get in the habit of only water you should be fine. It's helping me =]


ok so i am about 100 pounds. i eat like crazy, but i dont really gain anything. i am called anorexic like so many times a day at school. i cry all the time because this has been going on for so long. one day, i will never forget this day, i was at school and i was called anorexic literally six times, i cried so much that day when i got home. i actually got so mad one day when someone called me anorexic...that i punched a person. not like in the face or anything. what should i do? im so sick of being called anorexic when i know im not. and i have talked to my parents about this and they said that "well you know that you arent, so dont worry about what they say" yeah but its easier to say then do! I (shamefully) have called a friend of mine anorexic because I am jealous of how thin she is. But I know she isn't anorexic. The people who say that are just jealous of you, trust me.

Eating more might not be enough. Weight training and eating extra protein would be good to build muscle. But if you absolutely cannot gain weight I would ask to see a doctor.


so i got my braces off 2 weeks ago and got my retainers today.. ortho said to wear them for 24 hours a day but if i just wear them like 18 hrs/ a day would it be really bad... especially since they didnt move at all during the first two weeks after i got my braces off and had no retainers (my ortho said they hadn't oved a bit because my retainers fit perfectly not even a little tight) (link)
I think you would be fine. If they start feeling a little tight try to go a whole day or two with them in.

okay this is kinda weird, but... my little sister doesnt know about masturbation. well i think she kinda knows that guys do it, but she doesnt know that girls can do it too. i feel like she should know about it, but theres no way i could even mention it to her. but she likes to read, so i was thinking i could get her a book that would talk about it. does anyone know of any books that cover that topic? not one of those "all about your body" kind of books (she wouldnt read that), but like a story/novel for teenage girls that just happens to have that in there somewhere. so she could read about it and get the idea for herself. how do you get yourself motivated to do something? i really want to get on my middle school's soccer team next year. the A team, not the B team. I didnt even get on the team last season, during my first year of middle school. (In my school, we only have sports in middle school and up, and middle school is 7-8 grade) But then again, like 80 people tried out, and only 40 were going to make the team. I dont understand because i've played Rec soccer before, and two girls who were on my team who were always not interested in going after the ball and such made the team. i thought me or one of my friends who was better would make the team! but we didnt! it doesnt make sense.. maybe its because their dad is a coach and so they had "connections", or it was because they were prettier or something? i hope not.

anyways, i REALLY REALLY REALLY want to make the team. you dont know how much i want to. i've always wanted to play soccer since i was little, but I've only played like 3-4 seasons in recreation and occasionally at school too. i couldnt play it when i was younger.. i dont remember why.. but i did dance instead. how can i make myself get better for the tryouts in early september/late august? right now its may, so i have about 4 months to do this. How can i get more active (currently im only doing volleyball on saturdays, and i have health instead of gym till the end of the year) and "soccer-wise"? i dunno if i can join any teams really.. i live in Somerset county, new jersey.. any good places i can do soccer nearby? rec isnt in the summer.. so i dunno what to do. i have a friend a grade lower than me who'll probably get on the A team but i dont want to get all my help from her since she'll be busy too. i really want to get really healthy, really fit (so i can run a mile like they make us do during the tryouts) so i can just wow everyone.

P.S. Oh yah, im not sure which is my favorite position. I feel uncomfortable being a striker.. well i guess since im used to playing defense all the time, but i dunno if im good at striker yet. generally i play around the midfield, and im a midfielder, halfback, fullback, or occasionally defense. my faves are halfback and fullback though.. but i heard it was bad to pick faves? also put info on any soccer camps nearby my location! =] (link)
I'm not a soccer expert, but I have played for about 6 years and I have picked up on what really good players do. First of all, your desire to get in shape is great! You definitely are going to have to run, so make sure to work on that as soon as you can and as often as you can. Running is and should be an every day thing so you do not back track. Start off running for maybe 5 minutes, then the next day 6, the next 7, and so on. You should feel yourself improving. You should also work on foot work. This is for sprinting and such, so if you have like a ladder or something you can use it (one foot in each space first, then two, then stepping three times, and you should practice this a few times). In terms of soccer and not just general training, one thing I have found really helpful is "play the girl, not the ball". If you and a member of the other team are running to the ball, get in front of her, put your back to her so she can't get the ball. You can work on your aim by setting up targets in your backyard, too. And DEFINITELY try to go to a good soccer camp. A good camp with trained counselors and coaches is probably, in my opinion, the most helpful thing you could do for yourself for improvement in a sport. Good luck!


I woke up this morning with an allergic reaction to eye makeup--my eyelids are puffy and itchy
I don't know what to do- the pharmacist said to take benadryl, and I intend to, but are there any other ways of bringing down the puffiness? And usually how long does it take for eye allergies (makeup) to go away? (link)
I don't know if it will help much since it was an allergic reaction - but in general for puffiness, if you freeze 2 spoons overnight or a couple hours, then put them on your eyelids (or bags under your eyes - I always use it for that) it usually helps bring down any swelling or puffiness.

You set up the problem like this:

16x = 320. So divide 320 by 16. You get 20.

Then, to find the perimeter, you add 20(2)+16(2) and get 72. There's your answer :)

Usually when people in like high school say "hook up" they mean to like make out with someone.


I keep getting cavities and I never had any until about 2 years ago. I have braces (for a little over a year) and I brush my teeth about 3, if not more, times a day. I hate flossing because it hurts my gums and causes them to bleed. And when I was kid I used to eat a lot more candy than I do now.

What can I do to prevent cavities? I really can't stand getting them drilled or the feeling of having one.

Bleeding gums is a sign of not flossing enough. If you start flossing, it may bleed a little at first, but eventually it will stop and that should prevent you from getting more cavities.


i went out with my boyfriend for around 7 weeks, i dumped him because i thought he kept lying about alot of stuff but the main reason was he was really pressuring me into doing stuff with him and i just wasn't having it. now a week after i dumped him he decided he was going to get together with one of my friends *we're not really that close* but she's very immature nd said to him she doesn't wnt a relationship she jst wants some fun so he was up for that and one thing led to another *they're not together but they have done stuff with each other* i'm not jealous because i really dont wanna get bck together wif him he really makes me feel sick...... i'm so angry wif him and her because i feel lyk she's totally contridicted what i have said and him because i fink he's just a slut.....

i really don't no why i'm so angry nd am sorry its long but can someone please tell me why i'm gettin lyk annoyed by this

It's normal to be angry about this. Your friend is making a bad decision and you can't prevent it unfortunately. Your ex is apparently not the greatest guy and someone making a stupid decision to do stuff with him would of course make you upset! I can definitely relate to you, don't worry!


ive been getting sick for about a week now... it was never really full blown, just seemed like i was going to end up sick soon. ive been using airborne, drinking lots of tea and orange juice, and getting lots of sleep. 2 days ago i kind of lost my voice... i don't know how because i wasnt like yelling or anything. and i still sound funny today, its been like this for 2 days now. well today i woke up and i felt the worst i have so far. i still don't feel horrible, but i have lacrosse tryouts tomorrow after school. i already have a disadvantage because i dont have great endurance due to an anemia thing i got going on. i want to make the team more than anything and im so scared that being sick is going to hold me back a lot. is there anything i can do or is it too late and now i just have to wait for the sickness to pass? Take vitamins, get a lot of rest and continue what you are doing! It might not stop your sickness but it is probably preventing you from getting worse than you are now. Good luck at tryouts!
