Shortcake22 answered Thursday February 1 2007, 12:13 pm: Let me start out by saying that 'prep' is a label, and I HATE labels. Typically, when someone calls you a prep, unless it's another 'prep' it's an insult. Where I come from anyways =)
So after that warning... There are two kinds of preps. Real preps come from prep schools, typically east coast. The first person to answer this question had it right. Real designers, High class, best of the best. Like Gossip Girl and The A List characters.
However, whats come to be known as a prep, and probably what you are talking about is this: Abercrombie, Hollister, and American Eagle Clothing. Lots of Make-up. Ugg Boots, Juicy sweats. Ripped Jeans. Usually Blonde or highlighted Hair. Tan year Round. Polo Shirts with the Collar Popped. Mini skirts. Usually really put together outfits. The attitude is: Stuck Up. Doesn't talk to anyone except other preps. Pretty 'dumb blonde'. Kind of mean. Fake. Gossipy. Giggles a lot.
Now, that's not my opinion. That is the stereotype of 'prep'. I wouldn't really aspire to be a prep, but good luck with everything! I hope things work out for you! [ Shortcake22's advice column | Ask Shortcake22 A Question ]
hubhottie answered Thursday February 1 2007, 12:08 pm: This question if pathetic. D
on't label yourself because you DON'T & i repeat, DON'T have to dress a certain way to be friends with somebody. That's lame, so your saying just because of the way you dress, they will stop being your friend or something? [ hubhottie's advice column | Ask hubhottie A Question ]
xcheerbabex108 answered Thursday February 1 2007, 11:47 am: Well, most of the preps at my school dress in head to toe in Hollister, American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch, etc. They use expressions such as "ohmygawshh", or they act ditzy. But that doesn't mean all preps are like that, because there's some that are actually quite normal. Now, if you're a guy, it varies. You kind of act skater-ish, preppy-ish, ganksta-ish. I don't know, because I'm not a guy. But that's how it goes at my school. Don't act all depressed. Be a girly-girl. (Unless you're a guy) I'm kind of stereotyping, but seeing from experience, that's the style and the attitude. [ xcheerbabex108's advice column | Ask xcheerbabex108 A Question ]
luvbug555 answered Thursday February 1 2007, 2:15 am: eh, preppy has different sides.
the girly wich is like a pleated mini skirt with knee socks and tennis shoes with a cropped colared shirt. that kind of preppy is "fake preppy". they dont abide by all the "preppy 'rules' " like the "less is more"
orr the preppy that wears clothes from stores like Polo, Lilly, Brooks Brothers, Lacoste, and LL Bean
.they would wear duck boots, ribbon belts, prints ,cords with embroidered whales, palm trees, etc, sweaters tied around the neck, with their collar never popped. Hair ribbons or ribbon headbands, pearls, and other classic jewelry are staples. Preppies usually wear monogrammed and engraved items (like tote bags, oxford shirts, jewelry, money clips, etc). Colors are always brite (favorites include pink, yellow and lime green).
Preppies would never Wear tight, skin exposing clothing or Limit themselves to mall shopping and chain stores. They gravitate towards long-established classic stores and boutiques. they dont cake on their makeup. to them, less is more. [ luvbug555's advice column | Ask luvbug555 A Question ]
