what do you need to play volleyball? im thirteen, and im thinking of joining a travel team. is that good? or should i join a rec one.. though theres not alot of them around. like.. what do you need to buy to wear? like i see some like shin pad thing people wear on their feet. and what type of clothing? does it have to be loose like in bball or soccer or can you wear like cute semi-tight things? which is better? or is it just by choice?
can i wear sports tape on my braids? im black, but they look cute. i think its sports tape.. like some people wear them as headbands and they're usually bright colors that are shiny or sparkly. where do you even buy them from?
is there like a volleyball store i can go to get these equipment? also, i have like sneakers.. not the flat kinds, the ones with a little arch. are there like special shoes for vball or i can just wear any sneaker?
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!!

i put it up in a pony tail with the sports tape (and yes you can wear that stuff) they for playing games i waer tight jerseys, but for practice, i just wear a baggy t-shirt. I wear tight spandex, but soffes are fine too. The knee pad are the "shin pads" that you can wear one your knees or below, so when you go on the ground they slide up. if you are doing a really competetive league, you can wear active ankles, so you dont roll your ankel when you are jumping. I wear high socks under my knee pads and active ankels. there are certian kind of volleyball shoes that you can get, but they are not required.
you can find all of this stuff at dicks or sports athority.
if you are just starting out with volleyball, then i would suggest a rec league to learn the game, then you can go out for a travel team.
karlyndarlin05 answered Tuesday January 16 2007, 9:48 pm: ok goood choice. i <3 volleyball. Travel Teams are very good, they teach you a lot of skills out side what your school coach can teach you. Travel for sure. You can go up as high as national teams which basically go all over the US, and that what i play for and its a lot of fun. Basically tshirt, normally spandex, but regular shorts are fine. knee pads, those are the pads you are talking about, just pulled down. THey are for when you hit the floor. Most people just wear spandex shorts and a tshirt.
I dont exactly know what you're talking about but i think you can, you just can't have metal in your hair, that includees bobby pins and barettes. you can buy them from sporting goods stores.
any court shoes will do. you can look online or go to a sporting goods store like dunhams or sports authority. they will probabley have everything you need and more there. There are special volleyball shoes, but they arent necessary.

Sofie shorts and a teeshirt is fine,or basketball shorts or whatever you want. The sport tape stuff is fine. There is usually volleyball stuff at like Dicks Sports or whatever its called, and like if you have a Sports Huddle or Play it Again Sports. If you really need to im sure there is a catolog you can order these things from anyways. Basically just get knee pads and the gym shoes you have now sound fine. And don't worry about looking cute for volleyball, its a sport and when you practice you get sweaty and nasty anyways, just practice and have fun.. dont worry about looks ;) Hope this helped [ bLue_in_tHe_faCe's advice column | Ask bLue_in_tHe_faCe A Question ]
