I just did what you thought. I know hair grows even with split ends because... that's like my hair haha.
I'll wait when I have longer hair and then trim it a bit. It just looks healthier. I don't know why it still grows when there's split ends... but you could always use hair treatments to make it look healthier without the cut.

Avoid using hair styling products with alcohol which dries out hair.
Hot air can be damaging to your hair so when using a hair dryer use the cool setting
Hair is most fragile when it is wet so avoid brushing or combing when it's wet, or else it will cause breakage, wait until your hair is almost completely dry before brushing it.
Shower with warm water, hot water can dry and/or irritate the scalp.
Use a leave in conditioner, it'll hydrate and protect your hair.
if you are growing your hair out
then don't trim it.
it will take as twice as long.
because then you'll have to trim it
and then when it grows back "HEALTHLY"
you probably would have to trim it soon right after.
Juliaissuperfly answered Friday January 12 2007, 12:10 am: If you trim your hair, it is true that it grows faster. The splits in the hair make the hair weaker, and won't grow. The healthy hair grows faster. If you keep it growing when it is split, it is unhealthy, and weak.

Shortcake22 answered Thursday January 11 2007, 11:28 pm: It's false that it actually grows more if you cut it. But, if you trim it a lot, then you get rid of the dead and split ends. Your hair will be healthy and less likely to break off. So it may appear longer. But it doesn't actually grow more. [ Shortcake22's advice column | Ask Shortcake22 A Question ]
