period

Question Posted Saturday January 6 2007, 11:54 pm

I read somewhere that you will start getting discharge one year before you have your period. well ive been getting whitish to clear discharge in my underwear for the past 3-4 years, and i still dont have my period. i have spotted twice before, about a year apart. the last time was last year. i have pubic hair (sorry i know this is all kinda gross, but these are all symptoms of getting your period soon) and my breasts are still developing, and i grew a lot taller. so why havent i gotten my period?

i am athletic to the extremes (i'm on a swim team), i'm 15, and my mom got hers at age 13. each year my doctor has predicted my period, but it never happens. she has never bothered to examen me down there.

should i be worried? i want to get my period eventually, like i wanna have kids in the future. i heard about this disease where you never get your period and cant give birth.

any advice, comments, or feedback in general would be very much appreciated!!!! thanks!!

those are all the "syptoms" that will lead you to believe that your period is coming soon. But some girls don't get their period; ever.

I don't think you should be vair worried with it so much just yet. You should probably get examined somewhere (gyno, or just your doctor for check-ups). I can't tell you much to do, but the swimming may have something to do with it.

But i wouldn't just ignore it and never have it checked out just under the assumption that your athletic, so it's delayed. But it's a possiblity that you can't have kids, and you won't get your period.

It sounds to me like you should have your period, but even if you should have it, and your perfectly fine, it won't be 'delayed' forever. Get it checked out either way.

dont be scared. people get them at different ages. some get it at 16 you should get it anytime now. most likely you will have cramps before getting it. but just because you arnt getting it right away doesnt mean u have that disease for sure!

Chill my dear. Plus you don't want your period..you really don't. It's just uhg. All the cramps and having to go to the bathroom every 4 hours and the blood part. Ew. Yes.

You don't have anything to worry about right now. Being athletic delays when you get your period. So that's why you probably haven't gotten it yet.

the alhetic part may be why you haven't stared. Or you might have allready from the spotting. When you do lots of alhetic stuff is makes your period go haywire. So yeah don't worry and you still have 3 more years if you haven't statred but if it is hasn't really started after 18 then you need to be examined

girls get their periods at all different times. However, you should go and talk to a gynocologist or something. Everything's probably all right. Everyone starts at different ages and all.
